Used/Demo Camry, How Much?

Hi Everyone,

Looking to get a Used/Demo Camry Altise for my Father. He's not fuss about leather seat/sat nav or whatever. Just a point A to point B car. Car will be parked on busy street most of the time. I have been looking at carsales and theres a few 2016 "demo" around 5000-10000km on the clock and currently being listed for $21000 and up. Just wondering how much in term of negotiation should i do? 10%? 15%? on used or demo car from Toyota Dealer?

Thanks

  • New on road = $28K plus $1K fuel card. = $27K So use that as your first guide.

Personally I would expect $5K off for demo with 10K on clock (unless "undriven"), increasing dsicount with more miles. Check also that you dont have to pay transfer fees etc, which some dealers will sting you for, which can be around another $1K (This is diplayed as Excl. Govt. Charges)

Why not get a Corolla? Cheaper to buy, run and just as reliable.

Especially parked on a busy road most of its life, smaller target…

    • Actually thinking about corolla ascent but price seems to be about the same.

I have had this camry model for a week, a rental. Quite suprised how good it is, very quiet and very roomy - huge legroom front and back.
Its a lot quieter than a corolla (my dad has one (ascent sport) and the camry is easier to get in and out. Fuel use is a slightly more with the camry but still pretty good. To me $20k is OK.

  • Like PVA says its a good acceptable car, with greater leg room and more features than the Corolla. (but overall its resale over time will be less than the Corolla)

The Corolla uses a CVT transmission while the Camry is 6 speed. Personally I dont like CVT, its isnt as smooth.

As for your pricing question, I cant say what the dealer might do, but I know $17K would be too low. These guys are master negotiaters thats why they sell cars, so its going to be hard to out beat them. What you are doing is trying for the best price YOU can.

I would have thought that going back and getting say 20K plus 12 months rego would be at least your acceptable price.

Just check there is no body repair damage, as with all cars rust starts where the factory panels have been replaced. They really cant have as good a protection as what is done in the factory.

    Good luck

  • 12,000km is not a demo… It's a used car. Not sure why it's unlicensed, bit dodgy tbh
