Fee Free Chinese ATM's

Reaching out to anyone that's traveled through mainland China.

Can anyone recommend an ATM to use on the Chinese mainland.

Are there any that are fee free for making withdrawals ??

THANKS !!!

  • If things haven't changed, the ATMs are fee-free for foreign withdrawals if you use your trusty Citibank debit card.

Ironically the one place I had to walk looking for an ATM last year was in the tourist centre of Beijing! Maybe only 200-300 metres but completely unexpected (I had to walk to the post office).

According to finder.com.au, "You can use your Westpac Group card at Bank of Nanjing ATMs and you won’t pay for international ATM withdrawals." (https://www.finder.com.au/travel-money/china-hong-kong#atm)

P.S. Do not rely on the internet for anything. The internet as we know it is banned (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Websites_blocked_in_mainland_C…). They even crack down on VPNs so you need to find one that works when you're there.

I wasn't prepared when I left Australia and had trouble with Gmail, Facebook etc asking where the hell am I.

Download every authenticator app (Google, Microsoft etc) and website-specific app availble.

  • Awesome info !!! … thankyou so much

I'll definitely be using my trusty Citibank debit card.

Thanks for the heads up :)
