[WARNING] Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account: $0* Fees, 5 Qantas FF Pts/Txn (50 Txn/Day), 12 Pts Per $100 in Account

9424

HI All,

$0 monthly maintenance fees when you deposit at least $2,000 per month (e.g. your salary)
Access Australia's largest bank ATM network# with no ATM fees at any Bankwest and CommBank ATM in Australia.

Long time viewer, first time poster.

I have been using this hack for sometime now to accumulate Qantas Points and thought it was time to share it.

Basically, Bankwest has a transaction account that gives 5 points to every TRANSACTION and thus isn't pegged to the dollar. The key is to make a lot of small transactions and Telstra used to allow 1 cent transactions (They've now increased it to $1).

You can spend all day paying the transactions manually or write a macro code to loop and run it for you.

Mod Warning

From Bankwest:

..this method of obtaining frequent flyer points is against the terms and conditions of the product and as such any user who attempts to gain points through this method will have their account frozen and/or closed down.

What you will need:

Conditions:

  • Bankwest (i think) only allows 50 transactions per day
  • Bankwest are monitoring low value transactions so maybe start off with 5c transactions first.

WARNING: Running scripts to game the system is WILL result in loss of points/suspension of account for violating terms of use.

You guys are spending a helluva lot of time on Adult Friend Finder!

  • Not a deal, this is against the T&C's of the account and Bankwest will close down the account

  • Good robot too: https://anonm.gr?6936.jpg

  • I used to have this card back in the day - after pressing "split payment" for the 10th time at the Coles self check out I felt a little silly and gave up…

  • lets see 50 transaction x5

    250points… that's a gran total $1.50 in gift cards

    Not a deal.

OP, why do you even dig up such an old trick which clearly is an abuse of the system. What's wrong with ppl with all the upvotes.

  • +1

Splitting into 1c transactions is just greedy. OP got what he deserved.

I have three family members who had their accounts closed recently under clause 23.1 of their terms and conditions due to this activity as Bankwest audit this now. Bankwest deemed it was against the terms and conditions and the points have been forfeited. They also changed the terms and conditions to exclude these types of payments from generating points. Telstra also changed to a minimum $1 payment. This 'hack' is now dead and it's not a deal so I have downvoted it. Also posting a 'hack' like this means if it wasn't dead, it would be dead soon anyway so pretty stupid of the poster to share in a public forum if he/she wanted it to survive - make note for any future opportunities. You had to wait one month anyway for the points to post so plenty of time for BW to find out and shut it down. Maybe that's why it was posted only now after the 'hack has died.

Also forgot to mention there are easier ways of earning QF points like the current 100K Westpac deal.

  • Guys can anyone shed light on the 12 points per $100 in account? How is it calculated?

    • I'd like to know this too!

    • 12pts/$100 as monthly interest.If you value 1c/pt,it is only 1.44% p.a.You get better interest rate in any saving account(over 2.5% p.a.).

      • Not if you only have to have it in there 1 day a month

        • +2

          Fineprint from account information page:

You will earn 0.4 Qantas Points each day for every $100 of your account balance and 5 Qantas Points per eligible transaction.

        • @forumninja: anyone else able to see whether this is capped at a certain account balance? I wasn't able to spot anything in the T&C's

        • +4

@strawberrybug: There's no cap for QF points earnt via balances specified in any T&Cs. If you're in the top tax bracket depending on situation it may be worthwhile to earn QF instead of $ for interest.

        • @forumninja:

It's calculated daily. If you hold a balance around $40k for the month, you would earn 5k QFF points. Better than 0.1% interest.

        • @Muttley:

I know interest rates aren't exactly good right now but if you're only getting 0.1% (per month? That's still only 1.2% p.a.) that is atrocious and it's not hard to find a savings account with a higher rate.

  • Not a good deal. More of a waste of time.

  • +1

Not a deal. Thanks for ruining it for everyone who's trying to do the right thing.

    • +1

May I know how would this deal post "ruin it for everyone who was trying to do the right thing"? I'm guessing by right thing you meant using the account normally and not abusing it. If that is so, then there shouldn't be any problem getting the points. So I can't quite understand your comment or negative vote.

  • +1

Too many negative votes and maybe they are justified as the post suggests abusing the account to get more points. I've given it a plus because:
    1. I did not know about this account
    2. I use a normal transaction account for EFTPOS/Debit card which gives me no benefit at all, so now I'll switch to this account
    3. I do not intend to abuse it by making small transactions or making even 50 transactions a day. I intend to use it as my normal EFTPOS card (so probably 2-3 transactions a week) for places which do not accept CC or impose a surcharge (eg. Aldi)

Thanks OP for sharing and I know you were trying to be nice as in trying to give back to the community. But maybe hacks that are system abuse shouldn't be so blatantly flaunted :)

  • +1

Haha, never seen so many negative votes here. Go for it people, it must be still working if so many people are trying to protect it.

    • It's working, but BW is also working actively to close the offending accounts!

  • +1

I love controversial deals like this, thanks OP!

  • People are losing the qff accounts too
    Too big a risk

  • +2

Bankwest are monitoring low value transactions so maybe start off with 5c transactions first.

Seriously, do you really think 5c does not classify as low value transaction?

Also, as per AFF links posted by others, BW is actively closing accounts and reversing QFF. If it was posted 2 years ago, then it's a good deal. Now is a waste of everyone's time and effort.

    • agree i think this deal is just clickbait

  • What if I am an online seller and money goes into PayPal ? What if I transfer from PayPal to BankWest every time I get an online sale and I do it 100 times a day? Would they ban me because of that?

  • +3

Here's something scary - there is a poster on the austfreqflyer forums who not only got their BW account shut down, but also got their QFF account shut down & losing all points.

  • Didn't someone do this ages ago and have it honored?

  • Not worth the hassle in my view.

  • Damn check out that ominous warning ;)
