yeah sorry but steam sale has sucked for the last few years.
most sale items are slill cheaper on cdkey sites.Apparently this year the sale is going to be the Steam Award winners, so I am a bit excited, I am hoping everyone voted wisely.
THE STEAM AWARDS: Finalists announced, voting to commence Dec 22nd
I would be happy if that list went on sale.
It did!
Nothing wrong with the Steam sales IMO just the Steam content.
No good RTS's anymore.. no real fully fledged sci fi FPS's IMO titanfail to me is men..
We are losing so many good old genres and game styles and game play to newer genres catering to the abstract and "weird"
Off the top of my head I can't even think of a good 2016 diablo clone they are all really pos
Old school crpgs are gone games like nox and old school fallout?? Where have they gone?
Even some old dead genres like anti gravity racing and trap gunner style game play is gone.. man where did all the content and gaming ingenuity go
We do have more story based games and games that explore the abstract as I said earlier but we lost a lot of fun beat em up smash em up colourful games and just general games that gabe you a good experience almost like a movie.. new games these days tend to have zero story line or it doesn't feel as fun I don't know what it is maybe I am just getting old..
I still remember when the market used to just be full of awesome sim style games and RTS's and arena shooters with a couple of fun exciting adventure games and RPGs
I can't even think of a good modern stealth game off the top of my head besides assassin's creed and hitman which is meh.. hmm i don't know man I don't know
But I guess we do have some good moba style games note so that is something and open world is definitely on the rise.. I just wish we had some good much older more funner games :(
Miss the ps1 era of console gaming and even earlier PC games
Well that's videogames as a whole these days. People are afraid to dip into genres that won't see all that sweet FPS/Delicious Minecraft-clone money. Even bad survival games attract crowds better than a well constructed single-player game ever could.
Name the last RPG you played. Even Final Fantasy could barely even be called a JRPG. The RPG, which was once the King Genre of All Videogames, is now taking a backseat in all the FPS and hack n' slash games and there are no REAL RPG games anymore.
Also, being open world isn't always a good thing. It puts player-experience up to chance, and hopes that easily entertained cretins can have their own fun chasing around lizards and huntable animal sidequests. Which really is a cop-out as opposed to a hand-tailored, linear and singleplayer experience like oldschool Nintendo and Konami games. Of course, there are good implementations of open world, but there are some very, very bad ones… "Let's make it open world because everything is open world" is the crux of modern game design >:(
Assassin's Creed isn't a stealth game. It's a parkour game. The stealth sections are simple 'do not walk in front of his line of sight' minigames; no different to the castle courtyard section from Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. How Ubi can make (and people still buy) Assassin's Creed games every year is insane, considering how simple the formula is (don't forget the arbitrary "Don't get close" tailing missions, what fun)
The only way I've been able to stop myself going insane is with indie games like Rimworld, Undertale, Haven and Hearth, and what-have-you. I'll probably still find something to buy on this sale, but even still, I'd probably rather play the games I already have.
I have gone to the mobile scene in hopes of rescue and refuge.
But my stay here I don't think is going to go fast.
RTS: Nothing good this year but wait for 2017's Dawn of War 3
Diablo clone: Path of Exile (free to play since 2013 but changing each year so I guess it'll meet your 2016 requirement)
Isometric CRPG: Tyranny (2016), Pillars of Eternity (2015), Wasteland 2 (2014)Looking forward to dawn of war 3 but it's no warcraft 4 :(
Just thought of a stealth game that came out this year: Dishonored 2 (2016)
Yeah one of the thankful few. Thanks for reminding me about that. Great game.
EDIT: Replied to the wrong person
I wish I shared your excitement. Steam sales are a shadow of what they used to be
