I went to the dump - and got a hot PC for $3

Hi guys,
I went to the dump shop here in rural qld,
and quite honestly picked up the score of a lifetime.

I got this old pc in a dinged up gaming case with no graphics card
or hard drives,

but…

inside it had an 8 Core AMD processor, 16 gb of Corsair ram @ 1600mhz
and also an m5a99x motherboard.

Was pretty excited. Just $3. I put in the hdds out of my pc
and an old graphics card and she runs awesome.
Going to put in a new case and graphics card so any reccomendations welcome.

So, it is really worth checking out your local tip shop!!!

          not bad I guess. My HTPC with Skylake G4400 Pentium gets 3650 / 6160

          You should be able to stick in a Radeon RX470 and still get the most out of the rig.

          As for case, if you want it cheep and cheerful with no bling or special features, the Deepcool Tesseract case is $55 dollars, it comes with blue LED fans, a single USB 3.0 port on the front, tool-less drive bays and a see through window.

          It's what I use currently for my HTPC and it gets the job done. My only complaints are that the front dust filter is not the washable kind and it's hard to remove.
          The cable management features are rather sparse.
          The PCIE covers, once removed, cannot be placed back. It's the twist-off kind.

          If you got the dollars, then perhaps the NZXT Phantom 820 or NZXT Source S340.

    I picked up my current i5 acer pc with it's video card dead from curbside waste disposal in perth. Picked up two decent Lenovo c2duo laptops sticking out a business green bin. Both still work.
    People are very wasteful. I love it.
