Officeworks - 250x BIC Cristal for $13.78 down from $50

370

250 BIC Cristal pens for only $13.74!

Contains 150 Blue, 50 Red and 50 Black.

Buying separately, 250 BIC pens would be $70 odd.

There was a massive stack of these at Officeworks Townsville, and I've been advised that melbourne officeworks has a similar price. If not, you can use my photo of the receipt in the photo to pricematch.

If you plan on going in, I took a photo of the box to help identify the pens:

  • Does this include fine?

  • This is great, a lousy $14 for decent pens that will last me the next few years!!

Best part about it is when you get home and realise how much 250 pens really is :|

Ball point pens do tend to dry out though, so they may not last you several years.

Might be worthwhile if a bunch of people share in the purchase. I hardly get through a pen a year, let alone 250!

      • wow.. As a part time student I get through about 20 pens a semester.

        • +2

That's pretty studious of you. When I was a student I might get through a couple of pens a semester. It's pretty obvious that I'm not a student any more. :)

These days I use pens to sign or maybe to scribble a note to somebody. Most of my work is done with computers. I probably do the most writing I'm travelling, in the diary.

Also I occasionally come across perfectly good pens in the street so I have a supply I can't finish.

        • wow. i certainly dont, and im full time.

are you a science student? all my science units had crazy amounts of writing to be done.

          • @StalkingIbis: science (maths) undergrad and postgrad economics (1 subject each).
I went through about 9 exercise books for maths (100-120 pages, double sided), and about 6 for the economics subject (2 1/2 in econ were for lecture and tutorial notes since electronic materials were not provided).

Mind you, I record all my lectures during class and take extended notes on the majority of recordings. I also attempt all past exam questions at least twice and repeat all tutorial problems at least once again before exams.

Must get pretty good marks with that kind of dedication, out of curiousity how do you find the time to do that?

              • +1

@BigglezThePigglez: Yeah, marks are good. Need the marks to apply for overseas admissions and scholarships one day.

I don't have any dependents and I live in share accommodation where I can essentially spend as much time studying as I want to, outside of work hours. I aim for 15hrs of study per subject, outside of class hours - and I split my targets as 3hrs per weeknight and 8hrs per day on the weekends. Admittedly though, I probably average between 10-15 hrs per week per subject. I'll have some weeks where I'm lazy and miss that target, but it's ultimately made up for by the fact that I maintain the schedule through the 2week midsem break.

Having to work fulltime means that it's really difficult to cram for exams at the last moment, but if you've been keeping a consistent and thorough study schedule, you'll be all over the material and better than average before you even begin exam prep.

It's a big sacrifice to do these sorts of hours.. but if you're chasing scholarships, and you can get fee exemption at a top US university for example, then you're saving at least $80,000 USD - not including the income premium you'll get as a result of a degree at a top university.

Officeworks has identical pricing across their stores, with the exception of "soiled and damaged" (hand written markdowns) items so the prices should be Aus wide if this scanned at that price.

    • In that case, I'll take a photo of the box.

Also a good deal if you can find any at your local officeworks is the Polaroid PoGo bluetooth thermal printers for $25.

Those pens are so shit, they dry out to easily.

  • I think they're quite good, If you've used them recently they don't seem to try out anymore? easy to bring back.. unlike back in the 90's yeh they used to dry out and get finished just like that.

  • Sif buy pens. Just take them from work.

  • zip

  • lol.

  • Turns out that this is a clearance item. Most stores won't have it anymore. Canberra store couldnt find it in their electronic catalogue or in their online system (or they said something to that respect).

  • I don't get it, when a pen dry out
you just have to use lighter to burn the tip
    and the pen is reusable

why people complain about pen being dry out?
unless the pen has stand for more than 5 years…(which the inks gone dead as dead)

  • Office Works Milton (QLD) still has got like 20 of them.

  • I haven't bought a biro since high school but still have too many of them at home! For some reason, they just tend to accumulate after a while and I have to try really hard to give them away, even after I stopped taking pens from from hotels or exhibitions, go figure.

These days the only pens I buy are probably texters to label DVDs. People also give me pens as presents, but they are more collector's items like Mont Blanc etc which I am too afraid to use.

If there is someone here who wants some pens, let me know, I'll send you some, just have to pay postage lol!

    • I once put two pens in a drawer together… They bred and now I have thousands of pens in there :p

      • +2

I can sort of see how that can happen when you put a pen & a sharpener together, but 2 pens? hard to believe.
