Hi all,
I purchased this zenbook from this deal : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/208565
6 months after using it, the hinge seems not very stable (I thought it was normal at the time)
Early october I started hearing crack sound when I open and close my laptop, I was already a bit worried, and I inspected my laptop, there is something not quite right with the laptop.
The hinge is kinda broken right now. It is really hard to close the laptop.
Contacted Asus, they told me to drop it on asus service centre and there will be $99 assessment fee due to out of warranty.
There is someone with similar problem : http://www.breadcrumbsguide.com/asus-zenbook-review/
And she got quoted $690 and I dont think I want to pay that for fixing this thing.
What are my options here?
I purchased it via paypal and it charged my credit card with extended warranty benefit - called them and they will charge $100 for claim fee and wont cover $99 assessment fee.
Should I told Asus that under Australia consumer law I am entitled to 2 years warranty?
Edit: contacted Asus and they asked for proof of purchase and photos of the broken hinge to be investigated if it is covered under ACL
Thanks for the advice :)
Why don't you just call them, tell them that and see what they say? You really have nothing to lose.
