Great watch, bought one earlier in the year from Starbuy (albeit a different colour). Never needing to replace the battery is an addedd bonus.

    • Whats the luminosity like. Is it readable in the middle of the night? My current eco drive is horrible (ita only shortcoming).

      • +1

There is a lume shot on page 2 of the Watchuseek review along with this comment -

Lume is actually pretty good…it's on both the hands and the numbers

      • +1

I've never noticed the watch glowing in the middle of the night…..which probably answers your question.

      • +2

Got this watch on an eBay sale a couple of months ago. Can read the time at night no problem, not bright either to make a distraction

  • +4

I bought an eco drive from then end of August, sent it back as faulty start of September, still waiting for fix or replace ……

    • +2

Send the Rep a message if you haven't already.

      • Multiple contacts with them over the months, shame as their prices are so good.

  • +1

How is the stock band? Any recommendations on what to replace it with of changing the band? I'm thinking of NATO band, but wouldn't mind trying other types.

    • +1

The first 2 top reviews on Amazon mention the band and one bought a Rubbertech Silicone Watchband 22mm
There are photos in the reviews of the band on this watch.
Also a yellow & black nato strap would look good.

    • +2

Would look sweet on a black or navy nato, maybe even a Bond nato. But make sure you get PVD (black coated) hardware (the metal parts) so it matches the watch head.

      • Check out my photo below and give me your thoughts :)

  • +1

Great specs and quality for the price. They even used a black date wheel too thank goodness.

  • +1

The only thing I dislike about this watch is the wrist band. I'm looking for replacing my G-shock watch which ideals for my routine cycling.

    • +1

G Shocks are great, but looking time in those is a bit of challenge with dark colours.

    • +2

Buy a watch for it's face/movement not the wristband. Straps are easy as to replace - all straps come in a 22mm size and you can pick up a spring bar tool for like $3 on eBay

      • +2

Spring bar tools on AliExpress are about 60c. At that price get a few I'm case you lose or break one.

  • +1

Bought one last time on 28Degrees' post. Totally in love with it.

Swapped out the original band straightaway (available for sale) with some Nato/Zulu ones. Here is mine

    • +1

Very nice. I reckon the black would be the champion. Have a look at RAF nato too as they are very comfy and thin. Zulu straps are usually a bit thicker and don't bend as well around the spring bars as easily. http://natostrapco.com/collections/all-watch-straps/products…

      • +1

In my photo you can see the current band on the watch is a Nato, and the other 2 are 3-ring Zulu. All are with black PVD buckles.

One thing I noticed is that with the thickness of the Zulu bands they don't slide through the spring bars lol. I cbs getting the caliper to check but I guessed the original 22mm spring bars are 1.78mm thick, so I have bought a new set of 1.5mm thick ones in hope that it would make using the Zulu bands easier. Currently still waiting for delivery though (bought from China).

        • Yeah I know what you mean. I prefer the hardware on a Zulu, but not the thickness. 0.2mm can make a real difference. I usually have to remove the spring bars to fit a Zulu, natos are fine. That's why I prefer to buys straps from specialist sites (rather than AliX) like Nato Strap Co. during sales because they give all dimensions.

        • @ilikeit: I bought the straps from cheapestnatostraps (Swedish based company). They seem quite well made.

Nato Straps Co., don't think I'd ever seen a sale posted on Ozb? Where are they located?

        • +1

@sky blu: NSC occasionally have sales during the year. They often have 40% off or free strap offers for US holidays eg. Veterans Day, Black Friday etc.

I don't post these deals since most people around here seem pretty content with AliX straps at a couple of bucks. In my experience the AliX straps are inferior.

Cheapestnatostraps are OK, just not the leather apparently. Their Black Friday deals were very good.

You need to make sure your straps are stitched, not glued.

        • @ilikeit: What about this Nato Straps Australia? Anyone bought from them before? I accidentally comes across when i was doing a search on straps.

This NATO STRAP MILITARY PVD 4 PACK MIX BAG for $60 or NATO STRAP 6 PACK MIX BAG for $70 seems like a good deal. Also free shipping too for 2 or more straps.

According to their website, the straps are stitched not glued. Also, they have no questions returns policy.

        • @Clementt: Checked out their website. Seems pretty fresh. They offer 10% on mailing list signup which adds to my initial impression that the products are marked up. No info on manufacturer. The "mix bag" idea is lame, I'd rather have discounts on multi-buy. The 6-pack mix bag works out to be $11.67ea, a more reasonable price, but then you gotta think about the straps that you don't fancy.

As a price comparison, the Nato strap with PVD hardware (as seen in the photo) I bought from cheapestnatostraps on Black Friday worked out to be US$6.70 (~$9.17 AUD), and I'm very happy about the quality.

        • @Clementt: Honestly, I think that's really expensive. Basically, they're all made in China to varying standards. My last one from AliX was $3.50.

Cheapest nato straps has is buy 5 get 20% off with free shipping over $25. Quality is ok except for perlon buckles.

Maybe see if they throw out a Xmas or Boxing Day code.

The last deal from Nato Strap Company was buy one get one free.

    • How quickly do these straps dry?

      • I haven't not taken a shower or wash it (yet). But with using nylon "Nato" style straps they are cheap and takes literally 10 seconds to changeover so one shouldn't be too bothered the strap will get damaged or something.

        • I wear mine in the water all time. I'll often rinse in fresh water, remove from the watch, then 10min in the sun.

  • Been in love with my E111-s058481 ever since I received it as a gift, years ago.

Totally on board with a wrist watch that I will never, ever, have to rewind nor change the battery. :D

    • Rewind? You going back in time mate? ;-)

Would buy if the same is offer is on

    http://www.starbuy.com.au/citizen-eco-drive-bm8476-23e

    • This watch is sometimes on sale around the $100 mark.

    • +2

The BM8470-11E is very similar for $99.00

    • The best I've found for it is $143.10 delivered from eBay using CAU10.

  • +2

Just bought one, miles ahead in price compared to any other sellers…thanks OP!!!

  • +1

Great watch, have a similar one, going strong for 3 years.

  • +2

Pulled the pin cheers op updating a 10+ yo seiko automatic which is going strong but loses 5 minutes every week.

    • If it's a 10 yo auto it should require a service. Any watch maker could do this. Otherwise go on YouTube and look at how to regulate a watch yourself.

  • Is this price pretty much rrp for starbuy? I mean don't get the wrong I think it's very good deal and the watches are 100% authentic. I just thought that these watches are always $99 on the website? Or am I wrong? Happy to be corrected.

    • +2

I would say yes and no. Been looking for about a year for a new watch to replace my seiko 5 and while seiko's come up at this price point the citizen watches are harder to find especially something that looks as nice as this. I think it comes down to if it looks good and is on sale grab it because you won't see it again for a long time if ever.

      • +1

I second this. 2 years ago it was impossible for me to find this exact model at this price point.

        Starbuy's service is excellent btw.

  • +3

Thank you for posting the offer @28Degrees. We have just bought the last 33 of these in stock locally at $99. Stock will start shipping from tomorrow. Thanks.

    • Any chance of a deal on aw1365-19p?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just bought my first citizen watch. I hope this comes in before Christmas.

  • Bought this a long time ago when they had a sale for ~120 dollars shipped. Loved it.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

For $40 more there is this model:
    http://www.starbuy.com.au/citizen-mens-eco-drive-stainless-s…
I prefer the watch face on it, but not sure about the metal strap. Maybe an aftermarket strap hmmm

    • That's a nice watch face

      • Well I thought so and bought it. Haven't got it yet obviously, and haven't worn a watch in 10 years either, but I'm not feeling any buyers remorse so far :)
