Optus Mobile Plans - No Plan Cancellation Fee

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Not sure if anyone has noticed, basically if you leave your plan early you only need to pay off the remaining phone cost (if any). There are no ETF fees. Good if you don't like long term plan commitments.

From Optus:
If you need to leave your plan early you can. Simply pay out the full remaining cost of your phone including any amount Optus was going to cover.

most phone plans by optus also subsidise the cost of the mobile and you need to pay that as well.

    • Yep as stated

you're effectively paying for a phone at RRP when the phone doesn't even sell for RRP…

        • I've had nightmares with grey imports (LG G4's failing). Took two months to get the phone back. Now my LG G5 has got screenburn, but bought it locally luckily.

        • @apptrack:
didn't mention anything about grey import.
Local stock can be had at less than RRP.

Or, you know, just go prepaid

  • Its been that way since March this year I believe as it changed to that a few days after S7 launch and has been the same since

A lot of people automatically assume something like oh, my phone payments are $10 per month therefore I would need to pay (months remaining) x $10.

Take a look at your bill and it will show the actual handset payment less a handset 'credit'.

    • Is there a way to see the actual handset cost (before the credit) they'll charge before signing up?

Use the chat service and ask them.

For that you just say you moved in an area with no coverage (check map).

Call and say you want to cancel due to no coverage. No questions asked :)
