Free $5 Starbucks Gift Card for 1st 250 People, 7AM Thursday 15/12 @ Starbucks (Galleria Melbourne, VIC)

130

Starbucks is opening a new location (or returning) at Galleria in Melbourne. To celebrate they will giving out $5 Starbucks Gift Cards to the 1st 250 people from 7AM this Thursday.

No idea how Starbucks can compete in the heart of the coffee central but I suppose their Frappuccinos are good.

Galleria is located on the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth Streets, Melbourne.

  • Looking forward to buying a cup of water with the $5

Let's spend 30 minutes of our life waiting in a queue to get a $5 gift card. You could go mow someone's lawn in that 30 minutes and earn at least $25.

    • Its 7am, there wont be a queue. Ordo yoy actually go so far out of your wayfor these freebies?

  • They compete by being a magnet for tourists who want 'comfort' coffee. I remember when I was in Vietnam and while I LOVE their coffee, when I saw a random Gloria Jeans, I went in for a coffee because I'd missed Aussie coffee (and it was crap).

    • Also applicable to international students especially Malaysians of which there are a lot of in Melbourne (RMIT, Melb Uni etc.). If you ever visit Kuala Lumpur, many students go to Starbucks to hang out/beat the heat so I guess this is a reminder of home.

  • Plus students love free WiFi and feeling like an American.

  • How come that Starbucks are getting popular again here in Melbourne?

      Tourists.

Also the number of stores made the illusion that t was popular previously, when really, those owners expanded far too quickly.

and closed just as quickly. I think they only kept less than 10 from the 70 odd they had when they first started here.

Was in the US recently and the Americans couldn't understand that Starbucks failed in Australia.

  • Would cost me nearly $4 to get to the city by train for a $1 profit at Starbucks…

If you make it in the queue, enjoy a coffee for me :)
