We purchased a Go Pro Silver thanks to OzB 2 years ago. The USB port caved in and haven't been able to get it repaired anywhere. Apparently this is a very common problem with the Silver. Long story short, GoPro can't offer to repair it due to cost issues so they are offering 20% discount on a new item (I do have to send the damaged one apparently, could have sold it) which sucks as the camera had significant QC issues.
We will be going overseas next month so I can claim TRS if I do get a new one, so the latest Hero5 Black would come to $569.95-20% = $455.96 and then TRS refund would bring it down to $414.51, which is $15 less than what I paid for the Silver, however I would feel ripped off. I was going to ask what would you do in my situation? Try looking for a repairer, bite the bullet and get a new GoPro or give my money to another brand?
Thanks.
I'd be quoting consumer law to them and getting it fixed. Warranty means nothing if it's faulty within a 'reasonable' time. Especially if it's a known issue with that model.
