  • Mavic?

  • -4

Do yourself a favour and get the Mavic.

    • +2

No Mavics available but for myself i wanted to have the best camera for a prosumer so this suits me fine. I think you would be able to pre-order the mavic though and apply the 10%.

Dont forget this is the DJI Phantom 4 Pro edition a huge camera upgrade and sensor upgrade from the Phantom 4.

    • You'll be waiting 2 months for the Mavic if you buy from DJI directly, maybe longer depending on how many are sent to retailers. Might be worth getting the P4 Pro if you need a drone now.

      • +3

I don't think anyone "needs" a drone :). Food, water, shelter, drone?

        • +1

Hahaha I know what you mean. Have you seen some of the more industry-focused drones though? Those are expensive but serve a purpose I suppose

  • Are they really an authorised reseller? Can't find them on DJI's site… unless they trade under a different name?

I believe they get their stock from EEhobbies.

See the reply regarding warranty from the seller

"For the warranty, we can send a Pay Pal invoice to you, then you can get warranty from DJI after sales in Melbourne, named:EEhobbies.

      Regards
      Jarek"

All i know is that it is AU stock as i got mine today and i was able to buy DJI refresh care (http://www.dji.com/service/djicare-refresh) from DJI on the serial so as its AU stock i can't see an issue with warranty claim from DJI.

      • Yikes just spoke with the seller and they don't include GST in the invoice - so it can't be AU stock. Weird…
Did your pay pal invoice include GST?

  • Where do you fly this in Melbourne? There are quite a number of restrictions isn't there?

    • +1

Altona and williamstown town are both fine, get the drone complier personal app and have a look at the airspace map

      • Actually there's a bit more to look at rather than just drone complier.. and I'm sure not everyone can read vtc charts.

OK, I can vouch for this deal. Received mine last week from this seller but promptly sold it to buy the Pro+ which includes a 5.5" built-in screen that is more than twice as bright as an iPad mini4. This means that I don't have to drag around my big sunshade hood any longer as the screen looks good even under direct sunlight. I was going to wait for the DJI 8" crystal sky monitor before I realised it would cost upwards of $1500 alone. Also note that the version with the screen already comes fitted with the HDMI-out module which costs $169 as a spare part alone.

      • How are you finding the Pro+? Do you have the same controls on that screen as you would through a tablet/iPad?

Oops just realised it's a pre-order. Will the 5.5" screen be adequate? I found an 8" just adequate and thinking a larger screen would be preferable?

        • Yet to receive it but the actual software is the same. I would prefer a larger screen but after using my iPad Mini 4 with my Phantom 3 I realised that the real problem I was having was that even with a sunshade the screen was hard to see no matter the size… I then loaded one of my flight videos onto my Samsung Galaxy S7 (5.1" screen) and after watching realised that the size is OK.

  • Yep the pro looks awesome. Coolest upgrade for my money is that it now has the obstruction cameras on all four sides, not just in front! Just have to sacrifice that portability though……

  • EE Hobies, quite possibly the worst CS I have EVER dealt with. I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with them.

DJI has some great products, but they choose poorly with their Australian distributor.

    • "EE Hobies, quite possibly the worst Cun!S"

      How so?

  • So are EEHobbies an official Australian distributor for DJI and basicvalue their ebay shopfront or are there some kind of shenanigans in play here? No GST, the warehouse is in Melbourne but they have an office in Hong Kong…

    • EE Hobies are the official Australian distributor. My Phantom 4 Pro was the Australian version with Australian serials & local warranty.

Yeh i would be wary buying from Hong Kong, won't come under DJI warranty means it would need to go back to them in Melb, then go back to Hong Kong. lying pricks and shady way of dodging GST.

    • …except that you are full of crap yourself with no basis to the shit you churn out. Stock is Australian stock with accompanying serial and local warranty.

      • All i can add is that i was able to buy the DJI care refresh plan for my Phantom 4 pro with no issues as it was AU stock with AU serial etc.

I believe that the major issue will be that you cant return it to a local store and will have to ship it directly to DJI for warranty claims (which I have to do regardless for the refresh care plan).

        • Seems like it's genuime AU stock but the seller isn't charging gst or specifying it on the onvoice. Effectively it's 10% more for those that are registered for gst or want to use the trs rebate.

        • By ship directly to DJI - do you mean in Hong Kong or Melbourne? Just a bit confused. I thought DJI Care Refresh covers shipping costs if claimed in the region of purchase?

  • I would imagine no TRS.

I feel for the AU companies that miss out on Sales due to the ability of non brick and mortar companies to play in their space. But this is ozbargins after all so cant take those things into consideration.

My wife and her family are in the Pharmacy game which has gone from a way to print money to barely making a profit as a company. So swings and roundabouts really.

  • have they increased the price? can't seem to get it down to 1979 :S

  • There are a few other sellers offering $2199 with similar conditions (au based for warranty but shipped from Hong Kong). This seller has raised prices most likely due to the dollar drop.
