HELP Looking to Buy New Desktop Computer

I'm an elderly person looking to replace my 8 years old Dell pc. My monitor screen is also bleeding.

I do a bit of surfing, email, and watching movies or videos. I'm not into playing games.

Currently looking at this deal:

Any other better deal? My budget is under 1k.

Comments welcome.

UPDATE

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

After careful consideration,
Have purchased the above system.

If it's just being used for surfing, email, videos etc, you'd probably be better off with something like this. The i5 will be a bit overkill for your use case IMO. Also comes with a monitor (19.5"), KB, and mouse.

    • Thanks.

Would I be able to increase the the Memory to 8GB?

      • Not sure if you can increase it via the site, so you'd have to open it up and just slide out the DVD drive (like in this guide) and slot in another stick of DDR3L memory like this. Can't guarantee that it won't affect your warranty but have done a fair bit of research and it should be fine.

  • There's a Xmas deal going on at Lenovo's website.

The prices IMO are still pretty ordinary, but it's still $100~200 cheaper than competing Dell Inspirons of the same config.

If you want to buy a dell I recommend looking at the Dell outlet for the best prices.

    Optiplex for business

Inspiron for mainstream (it looks very empty right now)

The optiplex don't move very fast, and the one at 1049 is a decent deal, if a bit over budget. If you already have a Windows DVD, you can get the one with Ubuntu for 850 and install windows

  • Try get something with an SSD hard drive - I find even for every day tasks it helps with boot up times and just day to day usage.
