    • No competition

Previous deal finished not even a month ago !
    Should space them out …..

    • A month is too long if you need contact lenses.

  • Thanks OP

  • Missed the previous deal and really needed to get some lenses. Perfect timing! Thanks OP.

  • Have $30 left from Health insurance for contact lenses. Thanks. Smart promo before the end of the year.

  • Thanks! Needed some new contacts :)

  • Do the brand of contacts you buy matter?

    • +1

Yes, lots of brands because everyone has different eyes.
Check with your optometrist before ordering.

  • Awesome & thank you, I missed out on the last 35% deal as didn't realise cart was set to daylight saving time and in QLD we don't have it lol.

I got LASIK done a month ago. That way I don't need to buy contacts or glasses anymore. I don't think that is the OzB way though!

    • How much did you pay, thinking about getting it done but unsure of where to go.

    • shed some light bruh I want to do it too

    • +2

Speak to your trusted optometrist for advice and get referred to a good opthalmologist that does LASIK.

Lots of factor to take into account such as your current prescription, age (if you're older you might need reading glasses in the short future!) and corneal thickness :)

      • +1

Each time I have asked various "trusted optometrist" they have strongly recommended against it - without any checks or tests - simply due to the possible risks involved - so I've always presumed it was really because it would put them out of business.

I was actually going to post some kind of AMA about is, as there is so much interest!
@guac I paid 5.5K all up for both eyes at VistaEyes
Was short sighted -2.75 and -2.5
I'm 26 years old and noticed over the last 3 years that my correction hasn't been changing.

In regards to what the optometrists say, they are heavily bias as you are their income stream; with eye correction, you won't need to go back!

The surgeon there does ~30 of these every Friday, so there are plenty of people who can attribute to its success.

The operation took 8 seconds per eye for me, under a laser. They take heaps of 3D scans of the cornea (front) and retina (rear) of the eye to make the calcuations for the machine to perform the correction.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

      • Hi @fanuch. Thanks so much for the info, so nice of you to respond.
Funnily enough I have about the same eyesight and am about the same age as you so this looks like it would be a good option. I am so very sick of uncomfortable contacts and glasses!
Looks like VistaEyes is in Melbourne; was hoping you had it done in Sydney but should probably do my own research anyway!
AMA is a good idea too as I'm sure people have other questions such as rick factors etc. I'm guessing you did quite a few consults with them to make sure you were viable? Also did it hurt at all?
        Thanks!

  • Has anyone tried the easypay subscription for extra 10%? Can I get the 10% then cancel the subscription after the payment?

    • It says "10% off all future orders" so I don't think you can get it for the order you make today.

  • Hey just wanna ask which one you guys pick. I only got the 1-day disposable contact lenses sample today which has no description on its cover so I have no idea how to purchase them.

    Daily/Fortnightly/Monthly
    Disposables/Multi focal/Toric
    Different Brands

    I appreciate any input.

    • How you get the sample?

    • +2

Speak to your optometrist man, no one can diagnose or give you proper recommendations over the internet. There are pros and cons for all of them.

Most places will give you a free consult (esp specsavers)

Just FYI if you go into the bigger chains and say you are considering contacts they will give you a free consult and you can also request samples.

  • If you're after glasses, I'd highly recommend Bailey Nelson over anything at Specsavers. They are way better quality than most glasses you'd find in Specsavers or OPSM.

    • +4

Frames OPSM>Bailey Nelson>Specsavers. Lenses OPSM is a lot better, Bailey Nelson and Speccies on par (both poor quality). I have worked at all 3.

  • Thanks got a monthly Toric lens pack of 3…Lets try a new brand for a change.

    • Can I still purchase the easyvision Vusion monthly disposables which are $19 per box? Even though my prescription is for the monthly easyvision Lacrima Plus which is $28 per box.

      • I think you could but buy a small sample and check it out. I would also do some research online about cheaper alternatives and perhaps call my optician about it.

        • Thank you for getting back to me.

My local Specsavers say that it is fine to purchase the cheaper alternative. She did mention that it could be a different fit and not as moisturising.

        • @lizjam: Just use a good contact lens eye drops for added lubrication.

Also I have been using Opti Free Replenish solution and its fantastic! No major pain or tearing of the eyes,

        • Thank you for the recommendation.

  • Awesome. Used the express re-order function and added the code.
