I'm looking at iWTF, momondo, skyscanner etc.. can't seem to find something that will let me pick a date range and display the cheapest fare. Any ideas?
What website for searching for flights within a date range?
Comments
Thanks
can't book there
So how does one obtain the listed price?
it all depends on where you want to go & when ?
Don't assume you can find all options on any one website, you can't, especially for USA.
We often look at sta travel. Get 7 outbound & 7 inbound dates, so 49 date combos, but can only look at 1 date each way if doing open jaw or double open jaw. Not sure if any search engines can handle oepn jaw with multiple dates.
I used itamatrix to sort out my Europe trips open jaw bookings. In fact it was a post on ozbargain somewhere that taught me to
You can use it to find the prices and once you know the flight can then go to skyscanner and find the exact one to book, alternatively if you have a complicated flight plan (which you can search with itamatrix) can always print out the fare and take it to flight centre to book for you
Now you can…
BookWithMatrix
The easiest way to book ITA Matrix itineraries and trips
Google flights
Their new site is amazing. Google Flights is all you need for researching flights now.
On the note of aggregator websites for airfares I was surprised to find a significantly cheaper price listed directly on AIRNZ website that none of the aggregate websites managed to find. /shrug
likewise I checked flights to Hawaii in March next year.
On Jetstar itamatrix list $A900 where as on Jetstar's site its $A716
I also included in the Jetstar price, The plus bundle which has
No change fees for date, time & name changes (fare difference applies)
4,500 Qantas Points
Free standard seat selection
Meal
20kg checked baggageThis was so that the prices would be comparable, as I am assuming Itamatrix includes services like baggage so the fares of different airlines are sort of like for like
Beyond the filters, I don't get all the love for ITA matrix. Where's Tiger airways? What's with the random Jetstar prices? (NB I do love the price matrix).
I use flight comparison sites for an idea but the prices are nearly always wrong.
Itamatrix made it easy to book my Europe trip, could use it to work out what order to fly to which countries would be cheapest without having to search each leg, put in all my stops and let it sort it out for me.
@kawinuyo: It has great features but I thought it would be useless for saving money on a Eurotrip (unless you meant the flights from here to Europe in a multi-trip with some European destinations). I normally travel with carry-on only and for this reason almost exclusively travel with Ryanair, Easyjet and other LCCs. You can literally save almost $100 a flight compared with the proper airlines represented on ITA Matrix.
For long-haul or round-the-world multi-trips (where LCCs are currently absent) it can be a great tool.
@peterpeterpumpkin: yeah that's what I meant from here to multiple destinations in Europe, I put in all the countries I wanted to go to and let it work out flying from which country to which country was the cheapest as I didn't have a specific time frame
ITA matrix can only search prices that is available in the standard airline travel ticketing databases.
LCCs like Tiger, Jetstar, Southwest, etc tends to either be not in it at all.. or have multiple pricing outside of it
Kayak - Flex Month option (only works for return tickets).
adioso.com is great for flexible date range searches
Itamatrix, can't book there but you can select cheapest for the month. It's a great tool
