Men, Where Can I Get Some Decent, Yet Cheap Bedsheets?

Hey all, I need to buy some new bedsheets for my queen bed (I'm a single male and don't watch "The Block" or other Home Renovation
Shows.
I don't want the $20 Target Bedsheets that feel like sleeping on a plastic bag.

But at the same time, I don't want to buy the 1000 Thread count Bed sheets, that have been made from Egyptian Gold Cotton and Blessed by Cleopatra herself (Costing well over $300).

So my question: where do you simple folk buy your comfy bed sheets that don't cost an arm and a leg?

  • i bought mine from Groupon for about $55 (after discount and i had some credit) but I think they go around the $69/79 mark, it said 1000TC but ill take that with a grain of salt :P it does feel quite nice though.

  • Lol. First thing to check for is the material of the bedsheet. 100% Cotton is best IMHO and usually the most expensive, 400 Thread count is probably good enough. Stay away from high polyester % bedsheets, even if it is 1000 thread count. Low % polyester sheets are probably ok. Cotton Sateen usually means that it is a cotton and polyester mix. FYI, like most retailers, Target has a low end bedsheet range and a higher range sheet range. For Target, I only ever buy stuff from their clearance bin as the sheets/duvet covers are good value. Their everyday pricing is too expensive for me. :)

    • yep, avoid polyester or polyester blend.

Cotton Sateen usually means that it is a cotton and polyester mix.

Nope, sateen refers to the weave of the fabric. Cotton sateen should be 100 % cotton. If there's polyester woven into it, it should be mentioned or identified as polycotton.

      • I stand corrected. Sorry for the misinformation.

Sheridan outlet. Got some not long ago for about $40. It was their lower end range but still a bargain. Think they were $269.95 sticker price.

    • Second this.

Target have a larger range. dont just go for the cheapest.

    • Fail. Those sheets are terrible

  • As a man, I find bed sheet sets in general to be quite expensive for what is effectively just a big square of thin fabric. Microfibre sheet sets are much cheaper than cotton, and aren't that bad in the Summer. Otherwise you'll have to fork out $50-$100 for a decent set of 100% cotton sheets (ignore Egyptian cotton, I've never been able to tell the difference)

  • Shouldn't the first question be whether you are expecting company or not? It'll add a zero.

Bloody women and their expectations like sheets.

      • My man knows more about sheets than I do.

I just buy whatever looks pretty to me… Aldi and Big W have ticked the boxes for me, but I'm really only ever looking for a particular colour lol.

  • picked up some of those 1000 thread count sheets from big w on the weekend on special for $89.

took them home washed them with some fabric softener and they seem pretty good so far

Sheridan outlet - $69 on special, lots of colours: https://www.sheridanoutlet.com.au/sheridan-everyday-cotton-s…

  • IKEA has a pretty good range, and well priced too.

You could wait three weeks for the Boxing Day sales. All stores have bedding 50% off.

Ikea sizes are a bit different to standard sizes.

We have Ikea mattresses and standard (non Ikea)fitted sheets are baggy on them (not sure what size we have). I've never tried the other way round - Ikea fitted sheet on a standard mattress to know if that might be a problem or not. Flat sheets obviously wouldn't be a problem.

Standard Queen mattress size 153 cm x 203 cm, Ikea Queen fitted sheets are 160 x 200 cm.

  • LOl, sometimes, cheapest is not always the best, as most of us said, 1000TC always good for bed sheets.
Target used to had some 1000TC Egyptian Cotton Sateen under $80.

    Then the different between cotton:

  • Briscoes.

use this link to get $20 off $50 min spend

I bought a couple of sets of these Hilton Plain Dyed Sheet Set Assorted - you can't select a colour so you'll be sent one at random. I received a navy and white.

free shipping with orders over $25.

so a set will cost you $32 delivered. (1 fitted sheet, 1 flat sheet, 2 pillow cases - 100% cotton, 250 TC).

I haven't opened mine (they are a gift). but they look fine. the weight is decent (if that means anything).

    • a bit late to comment but thanks! bought 2 sets for 30aud. have you opened yours yet?

      • Checked them out. All good.happy with them and the price

Bed sheets are a relative cost thing.

I personally wait for spotlight to have spend 100 get 40 off deals then buy clearance stuff, king bed 380 thread count sheets were $10 each last time, got 6 black 1 purple 3 Gray for $60 :)

That said if you did drop 3-400 on proper REAL quality silk sheets Nd treated them right I'd expect 10 years from them. Proper silk is very strong sheet material.

  • Bed sheets are a relative cost thing.

    What does this mean?

  • Pfft amateurs, real men sleep on sandpaper! :P

  • oo.com.au

  • other peoples clotheslines on rainy nights LOL

  • You guys can try Clothsation bedsheets (facebook.com/clothsation) they are 100% cotton and cheapest in Australia. They come in fast colors and variety of excellent prints. And if you dont like it you can always return them with full refund, win-win situation.

  • ikea

  • Sherridan factory outlet. They are a bit more expensive but they last a lot longer than cheaper ones.

  • Coles had really good linen sets this week, 1000 thread count, cotton-polyester blend so no ironing, white or grey. Can't remember the price but they were practically giving them away, about half the price of similar at Spotlight.
