Unlimited Travel Data Rental from WiWander Asia $9/Day USA/Canada $15/Day Europe $16/Day

15

Hi Guys

Thought Id share this with everyone as not many services out there like this atm.

Recently used these guys on a business trip to Malaysia and Taiwan in early November, you rent a 4G modem from them and it gives you unlimited internet across Asia and I believe around the world.

Worked fine for me no connection issues, always on and was straight forward to setup.

Seem'd like a pretty good setup compared to roaming on my Optus mobile plan 50 cents a mb wtf is that!.

Might come in handy for some of you guys traveling this xmas holidays.

Another benefit I found was they provide you with one of those multi country power travel adapters, so no need to worry about buying one myself haha

Anyway thought its a pretty good way to get internet while traveling so thought id share :)

If you want anymore info hit me up in the comments and Ill try and share my experience etc.

    Europe $16/Day

$496 per month for data? How is that a bargain?

    • if your in a place for a month you'd prob either use the net at your accommodation or get a local phone plan and try not to smash the data.

I mean there are so many variables hay?

but by your logic above $496 imagine what that's like on my optus roaming omg rekt it would be as bad as printer ink haha.

I myself would prob only use on trips to Asia and USA when going for a short period like 2 weeks or less

      • I mean there are so many variables hay?

There are, so why is this a bargain ?

        • -3

There are so many variables to any bargain dude, why would I consider a 8TB hard drive a bargain when I only need 4TB?

          you get what im saying?

Some ppl might actually have a need for short travel without any hassles, like I did.

Its like why rent a car when you travel when you can get the bus?

        • @bargainz10:

          you get what im saying?

look at the votes above… you get what im saying?

          this is a bargain website…

        • @bargainz10: Most airports have SIM cards available, some before you clear customs. Outside the airport prices can be a little cheaper.

        • @mathew42:

But do they give you unlimited data for the duration of your stay? where I can just do whatever I want and not have to worry about running out of data? and then paying some more expensive data pack top up?

Local SIM is almost always the cheapest option.

For Europe, I think 3 offer one of the best plans with roaming across most of Europe for £20.

      • But do they give you unlimited data for the duration of your stay? lol things aren't always about being the cheapest, but the value they provide no?

  • +6

A little expensive. Local sims are always the best. Even Vodafone's $5/day roaming is better.

    • I'm a great fan of Voda's $5 roaming, especially if you're on a decent plan at home.

    • RE Vodafone yeah they are $5/Day but you need to have a mobile plan with them and it uses the data from your plan so GG if your not spending like $60+ dollars a month on your phone plan.

I'm on a Amaysim (optus) $40 plan (7GB) at home so why would I get a $70 vodaphone plan (6GB) so I can pay a few dollars less when I travel and pay double when at home?

RE local sims, obviously that's an option but I just wanted works as soon as I'm off the plane in Malaysia no buying a sim for 4 days there and then 3 days in Taiwan, so I mean everyone will have a different usage case.

I just thought id highly an option that worked for me pretty well.

      • Yeah - up until recently it didn't suit my situation, but because I have to travel with my new job it works out well.
If you're just after data - most countries have cheaper options, but I've found voice being an expensive option.

So if your primary use is data and data based voice apps - I agree your option is much better.

        • Food for thought, Malaysia definitely has SIM's available with data add on's for A$1 / 1GB per day. Thankfully I don't use too much data otherwise it's the cost of another cup of coffee. I reckon that might suit most folks whose primary use is data & data-based voice apps. That same SIM used in Singapore, Thailand or Taiwan may possibly cost A$3 / 1GB per day. StarHub also has equivalent packages sold at Changi or even on Jetstar flights.

The OP does address a niche market - ultra heavy users who travel. Thankfully I don't need more than 500mb per day and can concentrate more in the travelling/experiences portion of the trip :)

There are always local SIMS + 30 day service packages available for almost all destinations from reliable providers here in Oz BEFORE you set out. And at way less cost than this 'deal' .. :-) .. !! Just as an example I'm using a 30 day deal on T-Mobile in the US and Canada in February that was about A$50 (here on OzB!!) Computer says NO .. :-( .. !!

    • So did you you prebuy before you go? I'm heading late December, I thought I'd just do it over there.

      • +1

The SIM + Service offers on OzB are usually cheaper than the same in the US (although I don't think there are any current) AND you don't have to fight your way through LA traffic to get to a T-Mobile/AT&T/Virgin/H2O/Three store … activation is usually automatic when you power up the SIM on arrival.

        http://travelsimsdirect.com/product-category/usa/t-mobile/?c…

Edit: there are apparently SIM + Service sellers in LAX but at exorbitantly inflated prices.

PS. I have nothing to do with TSD beyond being a satisfied repeat customer .. :-) .. !!

    for $9/$15/$16 per day, hardly say it's a bargain…

    • what would be a bargain then? compared to the other options if you're not a vodaphone customer spending $60+ on a local plan that gives you unlimited data?

  • +1

Hand in your OzB badge right now!

E.g. at Schiphol a couple of local providers were selling 1GB for 30 days for 10€. I'm hard pressed to use 1GB/month here. (I'm not a streaming junkie. Maybe you are.)

    • As Iv said above it will be different for each persons usage case, just like when I put up Aldi camping mats previously ppl express there own usage case this 6 pack only covers 2m I need 8m etc.

I'm just highlighting a deal that some my find useful, so many flames its unreal.

I get what you are saying don't get me wrong but do you use 1GB in 30 days at home?? I know traveling you try to limit your data usage, but that's the benefit of this for $9 a day I can do what I normally do for the cost of a crappy maccas medium meal here in Oz and do it in multiple asian countries without having to switch sim in every destination.

At home I have broadband, so that's taken care of. I usually use max a few hundred MB mobile data per month here. It would be even less travelling since I would only be checking travel sites and using maps. Travel time's not for gazing at small screens. If you are using all that data because of work then your employer should pay for it.

$14/day is probably 20-30% of my daily budget in Europe and North Asia. $9/day would be closer to 40-50% in SEA. That's not an insignificant amount of money.

  • Less a bargain and more a convenience option. Not entirely sure OP understands how this site works. If you want a bargain, buy a local SIM (many countries have cheap/unlimited data options). If you want convenience at a much higher price, get this.

Also not truly unlimited, throttling occurs with set quotas, often will utilise the 3G networks instead of available 4G in some regions.

    • half the posts on here aren't bargains if you search hard enough, just advertisements for what ppl think is cheap ;), insert any harvey norman post.

re unlimited all companies have fair usage policies, they use it as a way to simplify offers.

RE 4G 3G, its the same for everyone is it not it comes down to the infrastructure in that country all service providers are limited by the infrastructure.
