    Hm…this is a 10000x better freebie than those free keyring key finders than i posted. YET, for some reason - this doesnt generate as much interest/clicks per hour…

    this freebie is pretty easy to get? no signup unlike ozstock and all that buying process.

    ANYWAYS…thanks for the freebie…
    im having a bug on my pc atm. not allowing me to vote for some reason, but id love to give you a +vote. :)

  • Brought to you by the Australian Electoral Commission. So our taxes are paying for this campaign?

    • +9

      well if you dont get one - your taxes are paying for nothing ;)

  • I am famous in my head…. does that count ?

  • +1

    How do I select the singlet?

    • +6

      Under the drop down size box, click "Wife beater"

    • +3

      Dont think you can.
      But you could always get a small then use scissors??? :P

  • It appears you can only get 1 per household??

    • LOL…like me, we tried to get more than one…
      but thats true, 1/household

      • Do you trust your neighbours ?
        I used my PO box..

      • Oh good, I wasn't the only one :P

  • Hey guys,
    Does the T-shirt only come with 'famous people vote too' or can we pick some other 'x vote too' style?
    Cheers!

    Dumb campaign. Only countries like USA need this because voting isnt compulsory.

    But i signed up for a shirt anyway.

      "Famous People Vote Too is part of a greater effort to raise public awareness of the enrolment issue and target the 1.4m missing, in particular younger Australians in the 18 – 39 age cohort. In other words, Famous People Vote Too is really about helping everybody to be on the roll and ready to have their say at the next federal election."

    • Well the viral marketing seems to be working. Whether it translates to more ballots in the box by the missing voters we shall see. But it's important that all franchised* citizens have an opportunity to have their say at an election, even if it goes to waste by voting informal.

      '*' Yes, this is one of the meanings of the word.

    • I recall usa doing some campaign ages ago called 'VOTE OR DIE' campaign. i think p diddy did alot of stuff about it at the mtv awards a few years back.. matter of fact, alot of the hip hop artists were promoting it.

      • USA constantly does something http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTIAAZZXyrc
        i really never thought id see it in Aus though

        just watched the skaters video tagged as 'winner' on the site
        Q:why sould you vote
        A:cos change is good
        lol

    • -2

      Yeah, it is a shame we let stupid people like you vote. There should be some sort of iq test you have to pass before you can vote.

      Lots of people still do not vote, which is sad. If you have never registered to vote, you will not get in trouble for not voting, no matter how old you are, so not compulsory.

    Yawn

  • Thanks, freebie with chance to win a competition.

  • How many people would actually wear a shirt with "famouspeoplevotetoo.com" on it?

    I don't imagine that it would be easy to get a celebrity to wear one either and even if you did it would only put you in the running to win.

    • +7

      I'll be wearing mine as a "just around the house shirt" :p

      • +8

        Gardening and DIY for me! :)

        • +5

          design aint that bad for a free tshirt…

    • It seems to me that if you are a celebrity you have the best chance to win yourself an iPod - Unfair! ;-)

  • +3

    What's Ruby Rose doing wearing one?

  • +2

    I wish they printed the election date on it. At least that would be practical.

  • +4

    How about "Free t-shirt wearers vote too!" ;-)

    • Hmmm… I am not eligible to vote… but I am eligible for a free t-shirt… sweeeet!

      EDIT: hey why the negs? By wearing it I am raising awareness about voting.. isnt that the point ?

  • OK- Would I be considered famous enough? Was popular with my viral videos on youtube 2 years ago, type my name in on google and first hit is me and over 18 years old. (Please don't type in betraya- damn even google got me there on that result)

    Gr8 freebies! But 1/household….hmm……a bit dissapointed….

  • I work with a CFA volunteer, i think that would qualify as a local hero, hope that inspires someone that wants an ipod and not just a t shirt

  • And here's the SMH article about the 1.4 million "missing".

    http://www.smh.com.au/national/young-voices-that-wont-count-…

    • don't they go around to high schools anymore and pre enroll kids…

    • If someone can't be bothered taking 2mins to register to vote online how serious are they about election issues or having their "voice heard" in the first place? Maybe they are already sending a message to governments/politicians by their lack of enrolment.

      • I fully support people who want to vote.

        However I do believe if someone is going to vote they should make an educated vote, and not just pick the top box or the person who is better looking or who's name they have heard the most, and so voting should be voluntary.

        Personally, I have zero interest in politics.. it bores me to tears.. so I dont mind not educating mysef about the various agendas and being forced to vote. I dont vote, so I cant complain about whoever is elected, and that is OK with me right now.

        But good on those who do take the time to educate themselves and vote for what they beleive in.

      • Good. If they want to waste their vote, all they have to do is turn up at the polling place and put a blank ballot in the box. However they should be required to at least turn up so that later on there's no excuse for saying I wasn't consulted. Compulsory voting makes pollies at least take into account the possibility that voters might care, instead of in countries where poor voters are disenfranchised and nobody cares.

        Online voting? Aren't you a bit ahead? AFAIK you still have to turn up in person at a polling place or send in a postal vote.

        • The registering to vote process is online. That's how I meant it to be interpreted ;-)
          Agree with making people have a say - even if it's choosing not to vote for a party as that is still a say. Otherwise optional voting opens up the system to rorts like in the US getting homeless people to vote for you by giving them money/food and busing them in to polling stations (check out the documentaries) or having a vocal minorty get greater control due to the tendancy for people to be apothetic/lazy.
          Don't like it if parties are getting money based on votes (from comments below). They should fund their own way.
          Also agree this campaign is a poor use of taxpayers money to achieve their goal but since they've done it…

  • Thank you Great offer if we were in a democratic country, and there will be no change because the parties get paid for each vote they get by the electoral office

    Countries that enforce compulsory voting:
    * Argentina
    * Australia
    * Brazil
    * Chile
    * Democratic Republic of the Congo
    * Ecuador (
    * Fiji
    * Liechtenstein
    * Nauru
    * Peru
    * Singapore
    * Switzerland (compulsory in the Canton of Schaffhausen only)
    * Turkey
    * Urugua

    our Non Democratic system
    Vote for Party A The world is flat or Party B The world is flat with curves or we will fine you $75

    • Not totally 2 party yet. This is why the Greens have a hard time getting a lower house member in. However the primary vote does determine how much funding the party gets so it does make some difference who you put first on the ballot.

  • I am painting the inside of my house next week and was looking for some old clothes to do it in. Now I have a tshirt to wear at least. Thanks to the OP.

    • Do you know how to sew?

      If so, get 2 shirts and convert one into shorts/skirt.

      • my social stereotypes tell me tightbottom needs shorts ;)

  • +2

    I will take my free shirt, for an under shirt.
    BUT what a complete waste of taxpayers money.

  • Yeah I can't believe my tax dollars are paying for this! Can I opt out? :)

    • Hey if my tax dollars are paying for this and the t-shirts are already made, I want my share.

  • billiant!! drunks vote too would be a good one.

  • -1

    they just emailed me and told me they ran out of stock!!! i ordered mine 2days ago as well

  • No t-shirt for me……
    "Hello,

    Thank you for your interest in the Australian Electoral Commission’s (AEC)
    new campaign Famous People Vote Too. Due to popular demand we have run
    out of t-shirts*, however you can still participate in the competition by
    downloading a free poster to feature in your video clip or photo."

  • Got an email saying they have no shirts left. Fail from our own government.

  • Thank goodness there was a cap on wasteful expenditure of tax payers dollars!

    • The government marketing boffins will conclude that this campaign is really "successful" because of the interest and spend twice+ as much of our money next time around rather than realise people just like free t-shirts regardless what's printed on them ;-)

  • Got an email saying they have no shirts left too. did anyone get an email saying they will get a shirt or was this just a govt data mining scam.?

  • whatever the number is they should give t-shirts.

  • has anyone got their t-shirt yet

    • It's a government department. Things work slow in those places.

    • Nope…it said 7 working days though. So i expect it tomorrow if im not wrong

      EDIT: still waiting…

      EDIT2: beginning to think this was a scam…

    • still not here

  • no shirt here either, did ANYONE here actually get a shirt?? after some said they got a 'sorry no shirt' email and no one said they got one, i'm starting to think this is more collecting names from unregistered voters than a real freebie!

  • Hi just checking in. Has anyone actually received their shirt at all?

    • I haven't received mine yet.

      ETA (01/08): I still haven't received mine either.

  • I haven't got mine yet either I really hope they send it now that the election was called

  • i feel a scam coming on…

  • NOTHING DELIVERED!!!

  • nothing

    • so typical politician… not trustworthy.
