Are you sure it doesn't mean they are advertising it again?

        • I'm not sure of anything. The only reason to use wanky weasel words like that is to hide something.

But the literal description of "re-marketed" would have to be "re-sold", as in sold again.

        • It's refurbished. If you dig deeply enough on the site it's there somewhere.

Been at this price for months.

Maybe we can avoid using the dodgy weasel words that some companies use when posting deals on OzBargain. Remarketed, really?

    • It sounds extremely closer to new product but still a second, need the Re-Word.

      • The correct term is refurbished.

        • …or maybe just second hand. Refurbishment means the retailer or manufacturer spent time cleaning it up and making sure it works. "Remarketed" just means its been put back out on the market. Who knows what treatment it's received. Without more information I wouldn't treat this as anything but used.

        • @syousef: Then it should clearly be called "used". I've never heard of the term remarketed before. It either sounds like refurbished or a fancy misleading way of saying used/second hand.

        • @Orpheus:

Looking for a definition online it looks like a lot of companies do use it to mean refurbished. All I can suggest is if you were interested you'd need to ring TEDs and ask. And if you really care make sure whatever they tell you is backed up in writing (Yeah good luck).

Bottom line is if you wouldn't buy it used on Ebay for this amount, it's not much of a bargain.

If bought online on ebay or gumtree it won't have the warranty for 2 years. And the person won't get a receipt that they get from store to claim TRS or tax if needed. Plus if anything goes wrong with ebay or gumtree purchase, you have nowhere to go.

        • @Jimmy007:

Ever tried to claim warranty for a lens in Australia? For Tamron, Sigma and Nikon I can tell you it's a long painful process. Sure you can drop it in to the store and let them deal with it but it'll be even longer. Tax - you'll get back GST so that's worth $20 if you can justify it as a business expense or happen to be taking it overseas. Proof of purchase can be useful as you know it's not stolen. So $20 advantage if it doesn't break. I stand by what I said.

        • EDIT - already been said. oops

  • Would have been great price for a E-mount. Have the E series lost its shine? Pics I know in dark are not great without flash.
