Robot Vacuum Cleaners, how do they compare?

I recently bought the Stirling robot vacuum cleaner from ALDI (for ~$200) and would just like to know for those who've had experience with robot vacuum cleaners, how does this compare with something like the iRobot roomba series? I've come across a roomb 780 on eBay for ~$350, and would like to know how they compare and if $350 is worth it.

thanks

I recently bought a Roomba 630 from one of the Good Guy ebay sales and very happy with it. I don't really have anything to compare with but the floors are clean and it doesn't easily get stuck.

I have a Roomba 630 as well, and it is much better than the equivalent Hoover model that I also have.

Only issue I have found is that it bangs in to furniture, so best to put some foam tape on bumpers to protect the device and your furniture if it's a soft wood.

    I had a cyberdyne T-10.

it was pretty good until it started acting weird on August 29th. so I pulled the plug on it.

Roombas are great if you have pets that shed and live in a single story house with mainly tiles/lino/wood floors. I have my 650 scheduled to run twice a week while I am at work and it always seems to get pretty full. Saying that, we still get out the old Miele Vacuum cleaner before mopping as the Roomba just doesn't clean at the level you need prior to a mop. Still, I love the thing just for keeping the dog hair and basic dirt off the floor and generally keeping the place looking good with almost no effort on my part.

I had a roomba 530 … but it couldn't keep up with 2 kids … got a dyson stick instead.

  • Neato uses sensors to map out the room. It doesn't bang into walls and furniture which is a must have feature if you have adjacent neighbours.
