How To Buy A PS4 For A Person In South Korea?

This is a bit different:
I need to buy a PS4 Pro for somebody for Christmas in South Korea.
But I have no idea how to do that.
I could send the kid the money but even that isn't all that easy. I asked if they use PayPal…nope. Amazon Korea? Nope.
Maybe a Korean department store of some kind that I can buy online and have them pick it up?

So does anyone know?
How can I buy this thing for a kid in Korea?

    And get it delivered

  • Good luck. As far as I know, South Korea got miniscule amount of stock of PS4 Pro allocated. I've checked the website I usually go for electronics that, I couldn't find one which is saying something because that place is like camelcamelcamel for almost all eBay like sites in Korea (they had one at around $800, secondhand?).

Plus buying crap online in Korea is simply awful for foreigners because they expect phone number and other junk + they will make you install tonnes of crap.

I'd probably send money to him, it'd be less painful.

EDIT: The next batch for PS4 is planned for 20th of December apparently and no one knows how many PS4 Pro it'd be.

    • Hey thanks,
Sounds like you really know about this subject. I don't, so you saved me a lot of time learning.
I think they can get it at a local mall, so they say.
Can you recommend any easy way to send the money?
I have a 28 degrees card if there is any way I can pay for it from here. They don't seem to have Won as a currency in PayPal, so that's out.
I could go into my bank and do a transfer but it looks l like a really bad rate and expensive transfer fee.

      • I wouldn't have a clue on sending money to Korea, I usually have money sent to me from Korea.
Only way that I kinda know how to do is via bank transfer which you've said you didn't want to do, so yeah.

Perhaps others can help you with that?

        • Hey thanks again.
I'll do a bank transfer if necessary, just with my bank sending Aus>Sth Korea seems like bad value. PayPal would really help in this situation, I wish that was possible.

        • @King Tightarse: I wish I could help you with that more, sorry about that.

          Anyways, good luck.

  • This looks promising as a transfer method without paying too much in fees. https://transferwise.com/au

  • +1

OK I sent the money over with Transferwise above and the kid will be able to buy it in person at a local mall.
They are an excellent solution way cheaper than banks, easy to use.
Really recommend this way if others need to do something similar.

    • About to move there for work, shame they don't do KRW to AUD :(
