Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. Just bought 3kg of gummy cola. 6kg of gummy total. :)

  • guys the gummy cola ones aren't the sour type, just the fail plain ones :(

    • They're still gummy :) but yeah, I do prefer the sour colas.

    • +1

      They contain Humectant !!!

      • so?

        • +1

Some humectants are toxic (e.g. LiCl). So where are these made?

          • +1

@grazer: But they are not used in foods … There are tons of different types for different purposes. It is only in the gummy ones to keep them soft and gummy-like lol

  • +3

Actually you can buy raw sugar for ~$1/KG at Woolworths online if you just need the sweetness :P

    • +8

yeah but it is socially unacceptable to shoval spoonful of sugar into your mouth.

made into shapes of bears and snakes? no problem.

    • +1

Probably better for you too, avoids all these additives that haven't been labelled properly…

They are probably against Food Standards for Australia…

  • Looks like many online sellers are in league with some pirates who have brought in shiploads of lollys in recent days.

  • I just bought a lot of COTD lollies too. Never gonna finish them all!

    • yes you will… with all the preservatives, you will live forever !!!

      • your body might agree but your engine disagrees. :)

  • Where are they made?

    • probably a laboratory…

    That's diabeetus.

Girls found my stash of Starburst. Now I have no Starburst left. Girls owe me Starburst.

HAHA, mines still at the post office. Its probably melted into one big blob by now

  • which flavour vl b better ….can anyone suggest me????

  • +4

Wonder if they are Australia stock, the ones from COTD I got are from another country even the writing on the packaging wasnt english…hmmm bit hard to explain to the kids why they cannot have sweets cause you cannot trust they are safe.

    • So it's okay for the people of that country to eat those lollies, but if they are australians eating these things they are poison?

      • +6

Weird rhetorical question there. No, it's not ok for people in other countries to eat those lollies (if they are toxic). I think hotzone was saying he doesn't want his kids eating stuff made overseas which isn't labeled according to Australian standards. Which I totally agree with!

        • +5

Good thing to look after your kids, I am especially skeptical of the quality/ingredients used in these type of overseas lollies. But I think what most people forget including myself sometimes, is that if we go overseas, most of the food we buy is manufactured in that country. We usually get scared when we're in our home country and dodgy looking lollies get shipped to us, but when we're over there on a holiday, nothing really matters Lol. Am I the only one who thinks like this?

          • +1

            @Cripto: Especially when the AREN'T labelled properly…

        • +1

Thanks Grazer, exactly what I meant. The product was in another language bit bloody hard to read it and go oh yes that is safe as it meets our standards. Amazing how many people just assume the worst in people and run off with comments that show little if any thought…..

For eg. people here in S.A are avoiding Butterfish as its normally vietnamese catfish as its alot cheaper…this fish has to be treated with a chemical to turn it white to look like butterfish and then resold on our shelves as Butterfish for a bigger profit…. This fish has been banned in a number of countries including the USA as it doesnt meet standards, so just because a bag of lollies is $4 doesnt mean its a deal.

      • correct.

    • Also seemed dodgy when the chupa chups from vietnams sticker from cotd said 'to be sold in vietnam only' but the importer put the ingredient info sticker over it to hide it, I still took the risk though, and might with this too, but best to be careful.

  • well if you guys visit a kmart, they have a bols brand with a large variety of candy for $1 a packet..just can't remember how big the packets were, but its really cheap , more variety , and to australian standards =) hard jubes!

    • but Bols taste crap when compared to the main brands like Allens…

      • I have an above average interest in gummi, and I have to say the mixed bag of sour lollies bols sell are actually really superb. I particularly like the blue ones, and they also have a peach and cream sour lolly which is unusual.

are these likely to taste pretty bad?

  • i saw this ad and wanted a ton of lollies. ended up gonig to coles and spending 15 bux. some good deal on atm.

2 cadbury blocks for $5, mars fun packs $2.50

  • +2

Damn no one from the last deal has commented on how good the lollies were, I hope they haven't all died coz some were regular OzB commenters lol. Meh, I'm going to go ahead and purchase them :) I'll let you all know how it goes..

  • +1

If these are the same lollies as before they are made in China, and they are pretty disgusting.

    • 8 hours too late, I just ordered mine.

  • For the record, they're quite decent. Obviously not as good as Allens, but taste nice, and cheap for that price. Made in China not Vietnam, which is a good little surprise. Another thing, manufactured 5th may 2010? wow not produced long ago, expires a year later. +1
