Loceryl Nail Lacquer Kit $54.90 (+ $4.95 P/H) RRP $79.95 @ Blackshaws Road Pharmacy [VIC]

30

If you're afflicted with a fungal nail infection, then this is one of the most effective products on the market, (especially if you want to avoid taking the oral tablets and the necessary periodic liver tests).

Loceryl is a twice a week treatment. The kit contains the files, cleaning pads and the lacquer for over an entire year's worth of treatment. It's a great product and we've got the best price for it in Australia, as far as I'm aware (currently $79.95 at Amcal http://www.amcal.com.au/loceryl-nail-lacquer-kit-p-931863711…). If you're after the generic version - we can get those for you too, of course.

If you're collecting in-store, we're at: Blackshaws Road Pharmacy, 310A Blackshaws Road. Altona North 3025.

How do you find this vs. Rejuvenail?

    • They have different modes of action, so the effectiveness could depend on what type of infection you have (dermatophytes, yeasts or moulds).
I've personally had better feedback from customers about Loceryl, compared to Rejuvenail. The better results could be due to compliance, because you only need to use apply it twice a week rather than once a day with Rejuvenail.

Loceryl also tends to be better tolerated as well, I've had a couple of customers say that the Rejuvenail causes irritation, itchiness and rash when you get it on healthy skin.

Ciclopirox 8% has been shown to get better penetration into the nails and you don't have to file it down the way you do with Amorolfine.

In both cases, treating nail fungal infections require a lot of patience. You're look at around 6 months for fingernails and 12 months or more for toenails.

If you're keen to read up on it, the following is a pretty comprehensive article:
      https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4360009/

  • Its normally $55.99 at chemist warehouse. Bought it 3 months ago

    • A dollar cheaper on the product and we're cheaper on the postage if you're buying online.

I used this for a year then switched to rejuvenail
I got a lot of success from rejuvenail. Almost cleared my entire infection and it's easier to maintain than loceryl.

I am not sure that it is fair to compare and contrast topical loceryl to oral lamisil (terbinafine) without pointing out their relative effectiveness..

    • You're right, oral terbinafine is vastly superior to the topical laquer, and a lot quicker too (12 weeks vs 12 months). Monotherapy Loceryl/Rejuvenail is only for superficial and distal onychomycosis, and ineffective when the nail matrix is involved.
Having said that though, most doctors do prefer you try a topical solution before prescribing Terbinafine, considering that it is common to get side effects like nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, rash, athralgia, and headache, not to mention the liver issues.

The best treatment is to use a combination of both terbinafine and a laquer like Loceryl, to increase efficacy and shorten the duration of oral antifungal drug intake.
