bad stuff they use to feed the fish, including a chemical to make the flesh look the bright pink salmon colour.
your preference is yours, but what evidence you have that it's "bad stuff" (as in harmful)?
Should stop eating apples too because of SmartFresh.
Just mentioning what I heard on 4 corners.
You do not have to agree. Keep eating lots of salmon!
Keep eating lots of salmon!
It's the only flesh I consume.
"4 corners Big Fish" great Doco

I will think twice when I see a product branded Tassal.
You can think twice, but if you read the transcript:
LEO CARO MELDRUM-HANNA: This is the pigment right here. This is astaxanthin
CARO MELDRUM-HANNA: Ok so this is a chemical?
LEO NANKERVIS: It's a chemical well everything is a chemical I have to say we are just a bunch of chemicals really^. It is identical to the chemical structure of the astaxanthin that the salmon would normally get from the crustaceans in the wild um but this is actually a synthetic source. Um so it's a synthesised natural identical chemical.
So, farmers feed the animal an analogue of what they would naturally consume.
^ only a real chemist can answer so objectively scientific. Most people think they're made of some sort of miracle angel dust.
Are they labeling the salmon as "artificially coloured" in their Kew store?
I'm not against farming salmon, but it needs to be closely monitored. Tasmania has a desperate state government which opens the risk of ruining a magnificent environment for corporate profits. I've been to Macquarie Harbour many times, it deserves to be treated better than a fish toilet. Same thing for Maria Island, Triabunna and Orford on the east coast.
"artificially coloured"
When fed astaxanthin, salmon's own physiology self-colours the flesh - this is a natural process.
You can reasonably object to the source of astaxanthin, but then you could say the same about anything (including multivitamins) you buy in a pharmacy.
.. Macquarie Harbour .. deserves to be treated better than a fish toilet. Same thing for Maria Island, Triabunna and Orford on the east coast.
Your point is that without agribusiness, Earth cannot naturally sustain its human population? Start by consuming less flesh!
i was referring to tassal's company practices, environmental negligence and manipulation of government, community and food labelling bodies.
Hence Tassal products
It's chemically identical to natural astaxanthin
Your body doesn't know the difference
But if people insist on using 'natural' astaxanthin then they will have to farm it from krill, shrimp and algae. What sort of impact is THAT going to have on higher marine life that relies on these for food e.g. whales
Lot of hysteria over nothing imo
I believe the industry has decided to move on to natural alternative.

I used to like salmon. Then I heard about the bad stuff they use to feed the fish, including a chemical to make the flesh look the bright pink salmon colour.
