PS4 Sim Racing Setup Help

I am currently looking at purchasing a sim racing setup for my PS4 in early January (may be earlier for the post xmas sales) and as of now I'm looking at getting the Logitech G29 + shifter ($350-$400) and the Next Level GTxtreme V2 seat from Pagnian Imports ($589)(its currently on sale to match the price of the GTpro, but if its price goes up I will just get the GTpro.)

I just wanted to hear peoples thoughts or experiences with these setups, or if they have seen anything going really cheap.
Cheers

  • If you're seriously wanting to get into sim racing then I recommend the T300RS. I saw it last week for $399 in my local EB (they seem to be sticking it again after a time where it disappeared from their catalogue)
The T300RS is miles ahead of the Logitech (I owned two Logitech wheels and both broke before I refunded and got a Thrustmaster wheel. The Logitech is a bit of a toy after using the Thrustmaster wheel.

Also I recommend joining up at ROOZ (RaceonOz) for some clean, enjoyable and local racing against Aussies.

Let me share with you my experience. I managed to grab a Playseat Evolution racing seat with a broken G25 wheel/pedals ($600+) for $100 and a functioning G25 racing wheel for $50 both on Gumtree.

For the first couple of months it was great… then it sat in the corner of the theater room for a while… then it moved into the garage for a year.
I'm a big racing fan but after a while, the novelty wears out. I eventually sold everything for $380.

My advice is to buy the wheel first and see how often you play. As for the seat, perhaps do what I did and find one second hand. In all honesty the seat doesn't add too much to the experience but it is certainly a cool factor at parties.

    • I agree with Ryanek, I used to use a ironing board as a temporary cockpit, Bought a wheel stand pro http://wheelstandpro.com/ which was great, very stable and basically turned my sofa into a cock pit. But that too got relegated to under the spare bed…..then the shed, and I've since sold it. But the stand I bought I think is excellent and still gives a great driving experience.
