How Many Credit Cards Do You Have?

Just wondering how many credit card each one have? And what was the reason of multiple credit cards?

I do have 2 VISA/2 Bank issued AMEX / 1 AMEX.

Reason to have multiple is :
no annual fee (CBA Diamond); $55 annual fee on (ANZ with 2 Qantas Lounge Access); $199 for AMEX Platinum Edge (with free flight offer).

What is your reasons and type of card/annual fee?

Exactly the same as me except I have a third card.

Citibank Signature Card (used for Balance Transfers - Up to my fourth now)

    • Citibank Signature Card (used for Balance Transfers - Up to my fourth now)

Ooh… I'm waiting for my next offer. Current offer is 8.9% on purchases… Yeh right :/

    • Once balance transfer promotional period expires, is citibank good at extending the same offer?

My 24 months 0% balance transfer is expiring soon.

      • I got the first few roled over straight away, it went 6momths, 6months, 12months (I think) then they stopped giving them to me for a while. Recently I was about to get a new 3 month, so I'm hoping to get something again.

However since I use the NAB as my everyday already, Ive never used the Citibank and the cards have been locked away since day one, so really if I dont get another BT then Im only going to leave the cards locked away and continue calling them once every few months til they give me one anyway.

  • 3 cards.
    1 for work.
    Use them heaps for points.

  • Are we talking actual cards, ie. supplementary cards on the same account, or accounts that have an amex/visa combo, or just number of accounts?

    • Number of accounts.

  • In my name:

    Coles Rewards Mastercards (everyday use)
    28 Degrees

    In my wife's name:

    Citibank Rewards
    28 Degrees

As danield said, we've mainly kept the Citibank for BTs (done two). Moved to the Coles card a few months ago, considering dropping the 2 (or at least one) 28 Degrees to minimise our liability, but no annual fee has meant I'm not in a hurry.

should have an option for none!

    • Good point, added

  • i don't need a credit card, i've got the bikies working for me

  • 5 cards.

    2x Amex
    1x from home loan
    1x 28 degrees
1x original bank before all the above happened.

  • I have 3 cards:

    • AmEX Platinum Edge - for everyday use + 4 supp cards
    • AmEx Essentials - only used when I have exhausted all my AmEx offers on my Platinum Edge cards + also 4 supp cards
    • CBA Low Rate - for the $250 cashback. I'll close when I pay off the remaining balance.
  • Ok who selected 20+, and how do keep that many credit cards at one time!?

I have held… ~15? over the last couple of years, but currently only have 2 active.
Westpac 55 day platinum - no annual fee for life. Use it for bonus insurance.
Westpac Altitude plat - no annual fee, using for Q points churn.

Most I've held concurrently is 3. I'm not sure that anyone should have the ability to spend 1/3 of their annual (pre-tax!) salary in one month, but I didn't do that, and they were happy to give me the points.

    • Haha, TBH I'm surprised more people haven't voted 20+.

It's like the guy that had an other option and asked for people to elaborate on their other. No one did.

      Yep, we're arseholes.

None, never had one and never will.

    Debit cards only.

EDIT: I tell a lie, I did get a Coles card, but that was only for the $100 credit and the card was destroyed immediately after.

What's your reasoning for this exactly?

      • Maybe concerns of self control.

  • I have 6 but use only 4. The other 2 are from the past, but since they are free as well, I did not bother closing them. So, for the poll purposes, I answered 4.

The 4 that get used are:

    • 2 free Amex - my main card, Essential, and Qantas. They get used a lot, for earning points, cashback offers etc.
    • Citibank Visa - for when Amex is not accepted.
    • 28 Degrees Mastercard - for overseas purchases etc

So the 4 will provide entire coverage of Amex/Visa/Mastercard.

  • none

  • Mate how do you get free annual fee CBA diamond award card?

I just refinanced my loan and will have free annual fee until July. Is it easy to call and ask it to be waived?

    • Free credit card for home loan package.

      • Ah.. Yea I was on the package then just refinanced to suncorp so wondered if it's easy to get them to waive it in the future.

  • Two cards - One Amex and one non-Amex. I am content with these two. :)
