While it may taste better (which is purely subjective), I doubt it is healthier than other hazelnut spreads.
Why do you doubt it's healthier?
What's the composition? It may have more % hazelnuts but I suspect the main ingredient is still sugar.
Tastes better is subjective, and made in Italy means nothing, a factory there is no more virtuous than a factory in a similar country. It's only the historical link that you are reminded of.
Made in Italy doesnt actually mean made in Italy sometimes. It could mean the label is put on the jar there but it is from somewhere else. Their consumer laws allow that there even though this is not allowed here.
@denwol: The label says made in Italy from local and imported ingredients. Similar to lots of products labelled made in Australia. In any case with automation, this product doesn't require much human labour, so makes little difference which European country it's made in.
It's a third of the price of other spreads, costs are cuts somewhere along the line and most of the time it's ingredients, which in turn make the whole product unhealthier.
@tranqme: I'd say in this case a lot of marketing costs have been cut.
what's more natural ingredients?
The Coles spread has a better ratio of natural to synthetic ingredients. Don't have the packaging in front of me but from what I recall the Coles one uses natural vanilla flavouring, whereas Nutella uses vanillin.
Honestly though, if you truly care about natural ingredients… don't consume hazelnut spreads. Eat hazelnuts instead.
Occasional indulgence won't hurt, but since I have the choice I'd rather pick the 'healthier' option.
Or opt for an organic alternative such as Pureharvest.
They all taste the same to me. Currently I'm using Woolworths biscuit spread ftw.
I wish there was a hazelnut spread with no added sugar.
that would be horrible mate! you say that now but once you have it you'll take back what you said LOL
I'm going to be that guy, get a nutino your mouth today!
Nutino Vs Nutella
The Coles brand hazelnut spread is by far the best. It actually has more natural ingredients than Nutella, tastes better and is also made in Italy.
