I am looking for airfares for 2 adults to San Francisco next April 2017 for my daughter's wedding. We would like to depart Sydney between the 12/4/2017 and 15/4/2017 and return to Sydney by Friday 28th April. We are flexible with our departure date from Sydney but would like to be there 4-5 days before the wedding on the 19/4. I have done searching and it seems the good deals end in March. But I am a novice in this area so was looking for help from the Oz Bargain Community. I would like to fly on a major carrier. Thank you for any suggestions.

Thank you for that information but I hesitate in going with them. I have found a one way flight with Nippon Air for $604 but I have never heard of them. So I will check their safety record.

If you leave a week earlier you might save a thousand or two and this would pay for the extra weeks holiday
Watch one way flights as going maybe cheap but coming back might not be. While there are exceptions, most times 2 one way flights are more expensive that a Round trip ticket. Plus entering the US without a return ticket could be problematic
Also Flights originating from the US are now more expensive that those originating from Australia. And when you llook at flights from the US, they will often be in $US so a $500 flight that looks cheap will be around $A700
Use the Iwantthatflight website (link in post above) and play with the dates, sometimes leaving a day or two earlier/later will save big money

Many travellers have been caught missing flights etc, by confusing their departure date with arrival dates. I even did that on a simple Bali flight that left at 1 am . In my mind I was thinking the date forgetting, the flight date and the date I needed to be at the airport were different. So thinking yep flight leaves on friday, when it for my purpose in leaving town it was thursday
look at Fiji Airways.
You might have to stopover for a night or 2 to get best fare, so very hard to search. Phone airline or a travel agent or wholesaler who specialises in Fiji or better still USA.
The savings, may pay for your Fiji accommodations, 3 times over & you'll get Qantas ff points.

No to mention Easter, as well as the Anzac Day public holiday, so any cheap airfares in April will probably be snapped up pretty quickly.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I searched Skyscanner and was able to get Qantas flights for $1231.40 return. Leaving Aus Friday 14/4 and departing the US 28/4. However,I discovered that it was cheaper to buy the tickets separately, for when I put in for 2 tickets the price rose to $1500 each. Just a tip to watch when using Skyscanner.
all the price difference means is there was only 1 seat left @ $1231. The next price level was $1500. When you ask for 2 seats, it doesn't average the cost, it just searches for 2 seats at lowest price which is the same.
