Refurbished Macs?

Hi all. I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good source for refurbished Apple Macs in Australia. I am based in WA but depending on delivery costs I would consider purchasing from another state. I know of a few sources (like this one: http://www.australia.for-sale.com/apple-mac) after searching around for refurbished macs for sale online but I like to go on the recommendation's so was interested to hear what others think. I am thinking of a G5 or early Mac Pro if the price is right. I already have a monitor and keyboard so that is all good. Has anybody else had a good experience with any particular retailer when buying a refurbished mac that they would like to share?

  • The only two shops that come to mind are Reboot-IT and BudgetPC

both are based in VIC however.

I have no experience buying from either stores.

  • Megabuy sell refurbished Apple Macs.

    Thought about a Hackintosh?

You could even set it to multi-boot to Windows 10, Android, SteamOS, Mint, etc etc.

Fan boy wants the glowing apple though.

Maybe he just wants to use it and not fluff about for hours with all that rubbish. Yes, yes, it's much easier these days and I would have done it when I was younger, but these days I'd rather just plug it in and work.

          Yeah you're right.

However, a Hackintosh can be much more powerful than a Mac whilst costing much less.
The only (fiddly) problems are with iTunes and Handoff.
If Cheapseats is okay not having those two, and use it for work, then it should be fairly simple.
He could set it up easily.

I know if he was in a major city Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane… he could potentially find someone to build it for him.
It could be a favour/free. Or they might ask a small fee, but it could be worth the investment.

  • Apple sells refurbished Macs from its website, but not all models are always available.
I bought one from Nextbyte in Melbouurne years ago, I beat the thing to death for 5 years, then sold it to someone I know, and he used it for another 4 years before buying a Macbook Pro. He still has the old one as his media computer, linked to the TV set in his lounge. They go for years, provided they are looked after.
It was perfect when I got it, came with a 6 month warranty (I think) and Apple's service was A1. I would happily buy another refurb, if I needed one.
