Help! Kogan Mobile Auto Recharge Refund

I got a kogan Mobile SIM during the $5 promotion and didn't know that kogan has default settings to automatically recharge mobile plan at the end of each bill circle so after I throw out the SIM card I got an invoice email telling me that the plan is automatically recharged….

I know it may sounds a silly but Can I ask a refund?

They certainly don't have to but you can ask. But you can cancel the service so you won't be charged further.

    • Did you know that kogan Mobile sign you up to the auto recharge when you activated the service?

      • I'm not familiar with Kogan Mobile but I assume it was in the fineprint somewhere.

I also got the Kogan Mobile $4.90 deal and I was actually quite impressed that, in the activation stage, there was the option to select or not select auto-recharge.

I thought to myself, rarely do you see auto-recharge as an opt-in option.

If you don't tick autorecharge, you don't need to put your credit card details in so they can't auto-recharge you.

I'm afraid my experience differs from yours. I suggest you call Kogan mobile to try for a refund, but i wouldn't hold your breath.

    • Thanks for telling me your experience. I don't think that I ticked any additional services.I generally don't read carefully when activating a SIM card. So my impression is that this option is ticked in default. For people like me who doesn't read carefully will get invoice before I realised what I have signed up for. I don't mind the auto recharge, if I didn't throw away the SIM card. But now I just got to pay for the experience.
