  • $59 for xbox one controller plus usb cable at gamedude computers

    • They charge shipping? Appears as though you need to get it quoted first…

    • bad reviews on gamedude

  • Good prices. The PS4 controller is from Shopping Square though, not Futu online.

    • In the description:

Only the PCB is official microsoft. the shell is aftermarket

and feedback left for the seller regarding the same item:

NOT MICROSOFT! - visually good COPY! but inferior Faulty, received full refund

So for an extra $2 (factoring in postage) you can get a 100% genuine controller.

      • So the shell is made in China, as opposed to the official shell, which is made in China? Let's be frank here, the only part that matters is the PCB and that's original. I only saw one complaint. When I see all happy users and one unhappy, I assume it's PEBKAC. I don't see how there can be compatibility "issues" when the PCB is identical.

        • I once bought a gba which had the housing replaced and it just felt crap. The innards were all genuine, but you really can't say that 3rd party replacement parts are anything like the originals. I would always be willing to pay a few extra dollars for a brand spanking new controller rather than a refurb. Just My 2 cents.

        • Personal preference I guess. In this situation, personally, for the sake of $2, I'd rather just get 100% genuine. Just because both shells are from China, does not mean they're going to be of the same quality.
I'm not saying don't get what you've linked, by all means, if you wanna save a couple dollars and take a punt, go for it, each to their own. I merely just answered you question of "What am I missing?"

Another thought; what of the warranty of the item you've linked?

I bought this very item a few weeks ago, after my original X1 controller suddenly died. I didn't realise until it was too late that he had semi-recent negative feedback claiming that the controllers were knock-offs (I didn't scroll down far enough — oops), and indeed when mine arrived I immediately noticed that the spacing between Y and B seemed oh-so-slightly off, the Y button in particular had a habit of getting stuck, one of the triggers had exceedingly poor pressure sensitivity, and there was no rumble effect. The seller claimed that the controller simply must have been damaged during transit, and while I wasn't convinced, I have to give credit where it's due as he was very communicative and neither argued nor dragged his feet when I requested a full refund. All in all, I'd say I was just mildly inconvenienced, however I'd most definitely advise against purchasing a controller from this seller and instead find someone/a store known to sell genuine units, even if it means paying a premium.

Edit: Oh, and the controller didn't come in the official packaging, just a branded cloth(?) bag. The seller said it's a cost-cutting measure, but, again, I found this suspect.
