Anyone know whats going on here?
If you've bought one recently I would love to know what deal you managed to get. Manual or Auto.

So… what are you doing here? Why didn't you negotiate and buy the car you wanted?
was demo fitted with extras?
is it apples for apples?
Same car, same specs. Read below.
The demo (which I was told they had five) suddenly became unavailable.
My plan Spackbace was to negotiate the demo cheaper as I had set myself a budget.
I was a little put off by what appeared to be a classic bait and switch. If I had been told over the phone that they could do new for the demo price at least I could have made a decision before making a 2 hour round trip. Make sense?
Yup makes sense, and I'd agree that it sounds like bait n switch. If you saw the cars advertised on Carsales or similar, they should be in stock. Especially 5 :/
The car in question is still listed on CarSales…
Dodgy, try another dealer. If that's the tactics they use, I personally wouldn't want to deal with them.
Try a price-match somewhere local
If a new car and a demo were the same price, what would you buy?
Just because a car has been "demo-ed" doesn't mean it can be sold for cheaper. It does depend on what you're looking at, from the perspective of the demo, how many km and age etc.
The 'demo' vehicle in question never existed however it states 2016 with 3800k's on CarSales.
Ethan, here's the problem with how you set up this thread.
You posted that you were looking at a demo car for $15,000 (for example) and the dealer offered you a new car instead for the same price.
THIS IS A GOOD THING.
Then you later said your intention was to look at the demo and hopefully bargain them down. Which is also a fine tactic but also a bit futile on subcompact budget cars.
Then you say that you went on a 2hr round trip on when there was no demo car at all and their ads still state the same.
THIS IS A BAD THING.
I mean, is everything a soap opera here? Move on to some other dealer.
No soap opera, just checking if this was standard practice. Thanks for the positive input though.
Isn't that just more bargaining power to get the demo for cheaper?
