GIVERING

I just received an email with a discount code for $50 off Ring doorbells. I have one and it works like it says on the box. Great security device that lets your know if someone's near your front door and lets you talk to them like you're in the house on an intercom from anywhere you have Internet. Great gadget.

Will this thing get stolen as it worth $300 ?

    • It depends on where you live ;)

You will get a free replacement if it is stolen.

      • If you get a Police report, they send you one for free. I don't think the scumbags that would steal it would know what it was anyway.

I've been using mine for almost 2 years now. (paid 199USD back then)
If someone steals it, get a police report and Ring will replace it for free.

It's been pretty useful so far.
My neighbor even picked up crooks breaking into his car on the driveway @ 2am using motion detection.

      Note:
there is an ongoing $40 AUD yearly fee if you want cloud recording, there is no SD card option.

      • Great gadget and concept.
It will be perfect if you can record onto a hard disk or SD card option without the $40 subscription fee annually.

        • I reckon the $40 isn't too bad. They seem to keep all of the recordings on there permanently and if someone were to steal it or smash it up, I'd want the video. Of all my security gadgets, I think this is the best. Someone generally rings the bell before robbing your house.

Mine has the sensors adjusted so I get warning when someone's near the door. No false alarms in a few months and picked up one guy who shouldn't have been there.

      • Hey mate, how is the wifi range on the device? How well does the device fare when there is poor wifi signal? I would like to get one & set it up at my front gate, the gate is about 10 meters from the house but the wifi signal is weak there. Thanks

        • I recall reading somewhere that a decent wifi signal is required. Mine works like a dream but it's close to router.

        • I've got mine mounted on brick wall about 9.5 meters from my router (R7000) and signal strength on the app says "very good"

Although it's rated for outdoor use, i remember reading reviews where people installed it out in the weather (rain) and device eventually died.
Not sure if they upgraded the hardware since then.

I have mine under the porch so that it remains dry.

After 2 years, i get about 2-3months battery life between charges. Initially it was like 6months. I'll eventually hardwire it later.

    • They sell the "vedio" version … one way of stopping others copying your ebay images :)

    • i cannot see the supplier you listed as part of c20elf
      am interested though.

I tried the coupon and it deducted 20%, haven't purchased yet though.

I found the seller by using the search function within the C20ELF promotion page on eBay.

I added to the cart and tried the 20% off code. It works

i make an offer $250 for the item, and the seller came back with a counter offer of $288..

    • Anyone that ordered from this guy got a shipping notification? I have noticed they have some bad feedback about not shipping items.

  • Does anyone have reccomendations for cheaper versions?

i just want a basic doorbell with camera and a panel inside the house to see

    cloudless functionality is optional

    • I just want a non-video doorbell that makes my smartphone ring.

    • Aliexpress or eBay search for video doorbell should give you plenty of those.

  • Can the doorbell be connected to more than one smartphone at a time?, so more than one phone is notified when someone rings the doorbell?

  • Shame it's cloud only video recording.

  • How long does shipping take if purchased from the Ring website?

    • Hopefully not long. When I bought mine it took a month and a half though. I think something went terribly wrong. It left Hong Kong, went to a few places in a Germany then back to Australia eventually. It was DHL but I wouldn't have thought all their mail needed to go to Germany to be redistributed.
