It seems some of the black Friday deals are starting to come out, first one I've seen pop up…

Standard Edition - $63.02 (35% off)
Deluxe Edition - $89.96 (25% off)
Ultimate Edition - $111.96 (20% off)

Keep in mind that buying digitally gets you the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions of the game and that is the only way to get the Windows 10 version. Great game, pretty decent price really. Enjoy!

A shame its still expensive (comparatively).
Will wait for the PC version to come down in price, or atleast the digital Xbone code to be cheaper.

    • +2

Yeah I paid just a touch over this on release for a digital copy from the Singapore store I believe. Super easy.
Don't bother with PC yet, still runs like crap.

      • +3

runs amazingly well for me… mind you I'm potentially on the higher end… i7 6700k, 16gb ram, gtx1070… get a nice solid 60 out of it

        • +2

Same specs here and im getting 60fps on highest setting on ultra :)

        • I have a lesser setup, i5 47-something, 8GB RAM, gtx 1060 6GB…

Still a solid 60 fps for me in Ultra.

        • Same as me except for a 970.
The frame drops and judder are pretty widespread last I heard.
It runs like a shitty port for most people unfortunately.

        • @theguyrules: i had judder initially but its been patched a few times since and is pretty sweet now

        • @theguyrules: 1080P?

        • @KRiSX: Lucky.
          How's it run in Surfers?

        • @ruddiger7: 1440p but same issues in 1080p

        • @theguyrules: I wouldn't be surprised if the game is using over 3.5GB VRAM on your card, which leads to noticeable stutters and all around unpleasantness on that card design (Nvidiotic design!). 1440 certainly wouldn't help either.

        • @ctg: Its definitely not the card. People are having issues with much higher VRAM cards.
Plus if the game is using over 3.5gb VRAM that's pretty terrible optimization.

FWIW I've never had an issue with the 3.5GB VRAM, I'm sure I will in later years but it's been incredible thus far.

        • @theguyrules: Definitely not the card. I had a 970 and bought a 1070 shortly after this came out and my mate who has the 970 now runs it better than I do on an older and weaker PC. Ended up getting a refund because I was sick of the gamble after every patch as to whether it was going to be better or worse.

        • @RazorCerb: Yeah, it's kind of annoying people claiming there's no issues anymore. There definitely is.

    • There is no special PC version so the price will be same for the game on both store. If you buy the game on PC store it will be linked to your account and you can download it on xbox vice versa. I would say try getting the code from some online stores like g2a or cdkeys or try your luck with Microsoft online store in different region(Singapore maybe?)

      • +3

Obligatory "DON'T USE G2A" note. They are bad people who support fraud, cost developers money, and don't support you if your key is revoked due to said fraud.

  • So do you think there be some good deals to be had in friday? As have some credit to use might be good to save that a bit longer.

  • -3

I still can't get it to work/install on my PC.

    Gtx560 and i7 2600, 16gb DDR3 and SSD… - quite old hardware - but still good enough for next 10 years imo.

Something about DX12 - but quite sure my card is DX12!! Latest windows updates have been completed too.

Very annoyed how difficult this game is to install on pc.

    • +1

It installed fine on my PC but it still has HUGE issues running well.
Very disappointed in T10's lack of patching.

    • +1

The game needs DX12 support to run. The 560 is listed as supporting DX 12 here but people on the forums are saying that the card isn't working with it yet. So I think the current lack of DX12 support for your card could be why it isn't installing.

Also, I don't know if the GTX560 will last 10 years. The current consoles are equivalent to about a GTX750 and even they probably won't last that long. Might be worth looking into a GTX1050? I'm sure you'll find some great deals if you keep an eye out on Ozb ;)

    • Just upgrade your graphics card to a 1060 and watch everything run smooth as butter. No need to upgrade cpu. If you still get micro-stuttering, i eliminated that by going from 1333mhz ram to 2133mhz ram. Huge difference for some reason. Didn't boost avg fps but totally got rid of the stuttering.

    • +2

Nvidia did state at one point that only GPUs starting at the 600 series (the introduction of the Kepler architecture) supports DX12. Sorry dude, the 560 doesn't make the cut.

    • +3

Yeah…. your Gtx560 isnt going to last another 10 years.

I dont believe the 500 series actually have DX12 support.

Rest of your build is fine though. But seriously, building a computer and hoping it'll last for 16 years is a bit rich (gtx 560 was launched jan 2011)

      • And it was two down from the top of the stack even then…

    • Not going to happen. Good luck even getting a top tier GPU (the 560 wasn't anywhere near it even at launch) to last 5 years without having to seriously sacrifice settings at a decent resolution, let alone beyond 7…

      • I should clarify.. in 10 years I probably won't be gaming anymore.

So in that case, the hardware will still be more than adequate in 10 years time.

        • Raw power is one thing but standard support like what you've encountered is probably going to be an issue if you want to play any modern games, regardless of how demanding they are. DX12 support is patchy on the 5xx series as is, and it's only halfway down the 10 year timeline…

Thanks OP - GOW 4 also on sale for $59.97 Standard or $104.96 Ultimate https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/store/p/gears-of-war-4/9nblg…

    • +3

Can this be added to the original post?

Also, Telltale Games Collection which is a fantastic price:
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/store/p/the-telltale-games-c…
Was $154.95 Now $38.74 with Xbox Live Gold

      • just submit as deal for visibility, good find tho :)
click deal and then submit deal :)

    • That's a nice deal, a shame the first game isn't on sale as well, I've been meaning to play the Gears games (or at least what I can on PC)

  • Great Price +1 for Standard edition. Missed out on USA target deal. May jump on this. Been looking everyday since launch for a half decent price.

    • +1

Missed out on USA target deal

      1. It was a pricing error

      2. Like 99% of people that tried to get it missed out.

  • Damn, just bought this from ozgameshop for $68.99 last week.

    • Still a good price considering you will be having a physical copy that you can sell at anytime. The only downside of buying physical copy is you lose the opportunity of playing the game on PC.

      • Considering the recommended PC specs:
        CPU: Intel Core i7 3820 @ 3.6GHz.
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or NVIDIA GTX 1060 (AMD R9 290X or AMD RX 480)
        VRAM: 4GB.
        RAM: 12GB.
        Hard Drive Type: HDD.
        Available Space: 55GB.
        Resolution: 1920 x 1080.
Windows Version: Windows Anniversary Edition 64-bit 14393.101.

there is no way my 5 year old PC will run this game.

Plus I have just had to buy a laptop for the each of my twins for school next year, so it may be a while before that will change.

  • I realise just how terrible Microsoft is.

They dont have a bundle with just the game and the car pass. Too many people would buy that.

Instead they have a worthless bundle with the game plus VIP.

    Or

Game plus car pass plus VIP.

VIP isnt worth anything to me but the car pass is.

    • Can't you just add-on the car pass from within the game?

      • I'm glad you asked:

        base game = $63
        car pass = $40

        = $103

        vs. $112 for ultimate

        there's a $9 saving lol

        ok MS you got me.

  • 36 USD on US microsoft store, use a VPN and save 10 bucks

    • Will it still activate fine or will we need to change our account settings/regions?

      • keys are region free, only ones I think are not were the early EA access keys.

        • +2

you don't need to use a VPN to buy xbox games. On your xb one change your region to USA in system settings, reboot, buy game, install it, change region back, reboot.

          Worked for me for:
          Far Cry Primal
          Life is Strange
          Battlefield 1
          Roblox

  • On an i5-4690K, 16gb DDR3 1600, and r9 380 4GB GDDR5 - game runs fine on Low settings for me with FPS from 50+, with drops so far when travelling to fast against terrain (rendering speeds?)

Everytime I tried running on medium, the game at certain points of the game would always starts flashing black screen and kind of stutters. I've reverted OC and other things for solving this, customised graphics setting to fix the issues, but only caused crashes.

Pretty much running on Low, and will see if new GPU solves the issue

Game of the Year. Get on it. Driving Aussie muscle cars around Aussie streets is brilliant. Aussie cars include Toranas, Monaros, Commodores, Phase III GTHO and XB Falcons and Sandman panelvans and utes.

  • Could just be the weekly deals, they usually start around 10-10.30 Tuesday.

Next Wave of Black Friday deals should appear Friday same time.

  • Heads up if you need to use the Windows Store for the Win10 version you'd better have decent internet. I've been having alllll sorts of woes with Gears of War 4

  • $50 on China Win10 store since its launch

    • +1

doesnt it need a chinese account ? bro wants the ultimate for his xbone

      • I would like to know aswell. Can't justify paying more than $50 for a game these days haha

      • +4

The China store has a discount today too, Now the stand version of Forza Horizon 3 is only 161CNY which is about $33.

No. You don't need a Chinese account. You could just use your current MS account. Once it's bought, the XBOX one will start downloading the game automatically.

But you will need a computer running the up-to-date Win10, set your computer's region to China. Open the Win10 Store app, log in your MS account and search for Forza.
You don't need VPN to purchase but I am not sure if Australian credit card will be accepted. I used Alipay and it worked fine.

        • will he need to change the consoles region ?

        • @AliensStoleMyMoney: No need to do anything on console.

        • +1

You probably need to buy Alipay credit at the post office.

I just tried Hong Kong using the Aust. Consulate address and Paypal and it doesnt work.

Its $89 aud hong kong, $86 in China.

        • Using this method it's $42 from the Singapore Store with paypal, will this work?

        • Doesn't seem to work for me after going through the motions;

          Contact Microsoft support
          We can’t process your payment

        • It worked last time when I bought Tomb Raider changing my MS region to Ukraine.

        • Doesn't seem to be working for me. What "associated mobile number" did you use when trying to pay via Alipay on the Chinese Win10 store? Doesn't seem to work when trying to pay by australian credit card, or even when trying the Singaporean store using Paypal.. :(

        • @9monkeyman9: That's the mobile number when you used to register Alipay account.

        • @cloudzhou: Yeah, I thought as much, however it doesn't seem to allow me to enter my actual associated mobile number. Even if I enter it as 614..etc etc with 11 digits, it still doesn't accept it. It seems to only allow an associated mobile number that begins with 13 or 14, which apparently are the mobile codes for China. How did you manage to get around this?

  • +1

Loving this game. Is there an ozbargain team/club?

    • I'm part of 1 of the AR12 clubs :)

  • I paid $79 yesterday for it, how annoying but had a $20 voucher so not to bad I guess

  • -3

ill think about it when its $30

    • You've already thought about it in order to even write a response! The licensing in car racing games especially will mean they'll take longer to hit the bargain bin so that's probably worth some consideration.

      • Talking about licensing cars, all DLC from Forza Horizon 1 has now been removed for purchase.

In this case, it's good to wait for a bargain, but wait too long and the contents will start to disappear.

  • I'd recommend trying the demo to see if you can run it before buying if your PC is more than a year old. It does not run well on anything but the latest video cards unless you're fine with capping it at 30FPS.

    1. Bought digital deluxe, and installed it.
    2. Selected HSV GTS UTE as starting vehicle.
    3. Instantly grew a Bogan Beard while being of Asian decent.
    4. Proceeded to do burnouts and yelling at the top of my lungs "STRAYAAA MATE!!!"
    5. Would buy this again, finally a racing game on PC worth playing!
  • Can I buy it from the MS US store without a VPN ? It costs about AUD$52. (Please excuse the noobish question)

  • I've noticed if you use the Microsoft store(using browser) you can add a promo code before purchasing.

Use this code to get 5% store wide: ANOV5

You can save a little more, promo code ends at 30/11/16

    • You can't add a digital purchase to cart though?

      • My bad I should've clarified. You can buy the Microsoft digital gift cards and get 5% off using the code. Then using the gift cards buy the game at a cheaper price

        • Yeah I immediately realised that and did exactly that :) Cheers

  • I just wanted to chime in and say that the PC version of this game for me runs like an absolute dream… in 4k. No stutters no nothing, absolutely buttery smooth.

i7-6700, 16GB, running off a 7200rpm drive, GTX 1080 FE. Driving it on an Acer Predator G-Sync monitor.

  • I'm a first time xbox store buyer, just wondering if all the games in the store are digital? Interested in GTA V digital and this one as well. And Can I sign up for xbox gold free 1 month to get more discount? cheers

  • Can you go halves with this? eg I want it for xbox can I go halves with a PC gamer and get a game each for half the price?

    • It's linked to the one account and it can only be played on one device at a time.

      • Ta, worth asking :)
