  • Is there a comparison site or any easy way to find cheapest price for potenza re003 225/45/r17?

    Reason I ask…

If you find an identical locally stocked tyre for less at any of our competitors, we'll match it, plus pay you 10% of the difference
Bob Jane T-Marts' Best Tyre Price Guarantee applies to any cheaper price found on an online store or in a physical store in Australia. It applies to 'like for like' prices, that is, where the other store's final price, inclusive of fitting, balancing, new tubeless valve, GST, tyre disposal and freight, is lower than our price

    • I did some research on mine, and found Jax to be the cheapest for my tyre (Potenza RE003 205/55/R16) $140 on Jax website, whereas Bob Jane wanted $145. I mentioned Jax's price to them and they lowered theirs to $139 each.

      • Shouldn't they have charged you $124? Or am I misunderstanding their Price Guarantee?

If you find an identical locally stocked tyre for less at any of our competitors, we'll match it, plus pay you 10% of the difference

That to me reads like you'll get charged $140 (i.e. what Jax have it for) and then they'll give you $14 (10% of $140) cash per tyre that you purchase through them, because they'll "pay you 10% of the difference"

edit: Wait hang on. 10% of the difference. The difference is $5.
        10% of $5 is $0.50
So they'll pay you $0.50 per tyre you purchase? LOL. Confused.

        • +1

          Yeah it's the difference.

At first glance it sounds as if they'll beat it by 10% but it's pretty lame when you realise it's all based on the difference

        • +1

@montorola: Yea so it's like the one price beat that Chemist Warehouse have.

Agreed. A bit lame, but it's a good way for them to "protect" themselves I guess. It's still cheaper than not beating at all - that's one way to look at it I guess :P

And it seems like you got an extra $0.50 discount, seeing as 10% of the difference seems to only be $0.50 and you got a $1 discount. Haha.

    • I booked in for this size (225/45/r17). It was $179 each. I couldn't find anywhere cheaper but let me know if you do!

      • +1

Cheapest I found was $185 so far, so looks like Bob Jane might already be cheapest

        • Bridgestone quoted me $168 per tyre or $504 total. Bob Jane price matched so after discount $379 for a set of Potenzas.
I'm getting an alignment for $50 on top

        • @MitchellJohnsonsMo:

Woah. Do you have a quote you can email me?

I asked Bridgestone direct as well and they said $185!

        • @89tnp:
          Yeah PM me your email

  • Can anyone please confirm if the store sells gc when you are replacing your tyres there ?
    Thanks

  • Tyre noob here, will get the Potenza today but just hoping to find out the difference between RE003 and S001.

    Cheers!

    • +1

Apparently the RE003 is the bee's knees. I have experience with Michelin PS3's and have read these are equivalent in performance but better in comfort.

    • +1

Bought the RE003 in Adelaide for $199 each (135/40/R18). Couldn't price match to Jax ($195 each) as "they don't have an outlet in Adelaide". Add wheel alignment $75. Total cost $672 - $125 = $547

      Hope I didn't overpay!

  • +1

Thanks OP. Used it for BWS. 5 card 5 transactions.
Got called from Bws to confirm its legitimate purchases. All good. Picking up all 5 crates today.

  • +1

Anyone else get around a cool Sailor Jerry, Dry and Lime on a hot arvo?
This is a decent deal if so - sale price of $55 for the 1L bottle
So comes down to $40 with the amex credit
    BWS - Sailor J 1L

    • That's what I bought!

    • deals gone on the sailor .. now $69

  • Damn you Amex, even though my tyres are relatively new (toyo fronts done 10K and random chinese rears on TDi FWD), I'm now thinking of replacing them with the Potenza RE003's 235/40/R18's all around for $472 after the buy 3 get 1 free + $125 Amex credit back.

    • Where are you finding the buy one get one free deal?

  • +1

Thanks OP! Ordered in RE003's for $177 each which will set me back a very low $406 for all four corners after the credit back.

    • What are your tyre specs?

      • 215/45R17

        • got a quote today for 215/50 r17..
the different between 45 and 50 profile, due to the 50 being 'rarer' is nuts.. wife did a call around and the quote we got was $100 more a corner than what youve quoted

Think i might be making a few more calls

        • @SBOB: that is ridiculous, have you checked Jax Tyres? They list most of their prices online and Bob Jane will price match it

        • +1

          @gnomesandco:

          Yeah
jax have the RE003 at $245 each for that size.. still ~$70 more a corner for pretty much the same amount of rubber… stupid mazda and their non-standard tyre sizes

Think the RE003's may be a bit wasted on a mazda 6 station wagon though :)

        • @SBOB:

What car do you have, and does the placard say you can fit 215/45's? If it does you are sweet to go, but just be aware that your speedo will be out.

Regardless, I would just put the 45 on, its a smaller diameter yes, but not by a huge amount. ~4%

        • @smpantsonfire:

nah, placard is only 215/50 R17
I think mazda is a bit anal in their recommended tyre sizes and only stipulate the one size for 16, 17 and 18" rim options

  • Bundy OP 700mL for $52 = $37.

    JB White 1L for $49 + 50ml for $6 = $40 which is the equivalent of $26.67 per 700mL.

Cheapest add-on I can find is a bottle of cider for $4 but they also have spirit dispensers for $5 and those baby bottles of spirits for $6.

    • Jacob's Creek wine is $7 per bottle - not a bad add-on

  • +1

    Thanks OP

Picked up the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season at the advertised price of $175 per tire.

I'm wishing I had two Amex cards!

    • Time to get additional CHolder(s). They give them away gladly :)

      • You need additional Amex accounts to duplicate offers. Additional card holders share offers with the primary card holder, they don't get their own separate offers.

        • +2

You can setup additional cardholders with their own 'login'. You still get charged for their purchases but get all the benefits. I already have one so I know.

        • @gimme: Supplementary American Express Cards or any other American Express Cards you may hold qualify as an Eligible Card only if registered for the Offer separately. Where the Primary and Supplementary Card number is identical only one registration can be made per account.

Is you supplementary card number different to the primary? How did you get that?

        • @gimme:

Wow - you are absolutely right

My wife was supplementary card holder, and she has separate card number to my own.

I just registered her then for an account on the amex site with the supplementary card number, and sure enough it works.

There listed was all the offers including Bob Jane.

Unfortunately I already purchased the car tires yesterday just using the one card! Not both.

My bill only came to $775 though.

I guess I could go back, ask them to refund $375, and put it on the wife's card with another charge of $25.

It is probably not worth the risk though. That is $125 bucks down the drain :(

        • @gimme:

I'm a single, unmarried, bachelor, male.

Is there anyway I can get a supplementary card?

Might have to go and find a wife to take advantage of these amex deals lol

        • @montorola:

Can you use a parent? You don't actually have to give them the card.

          http://www.americanexpress.com/australia/pdfs/Platinum_Charg…

"You can choose any friend or family member, over 18 years of age, to receive a Supplementary Card"

"Section 3" : "Relationship with Basic Card member"

You need to find out firstly if there is any charge to get a supplementary card (possibly a yearly fee too).

I'm on one of the old bwm amex card things that have no fees for life and free supplementary cards etc.

        • @skimp:

Yes… mine is an amex issued one.

        • @mshannon:

You can use anyone you like and call them 'my brother from another mother'. Amex don't really care. The important thing is to make sure they can do an identity check if required (i.e provide medicare and/or DL details). I just did this for my parents and kept both cards. I even told the CS agent who was the one who pushed me to get additional cardholders. He said yeah go for it, all the best! Ultimately you're the only person on hook for it and from Amex's perspective, the more the merrier.

  • +4

    This is absolutely brilliant!

I'm going to get new tyres this Saturday at Bob Jane, and literally got my new Amex card yesterday!

    Thanks OP!

    • +3

Make sure you register it before you go and pay though!!! All these statement credits require you to enrol your card to get the cashback.

    • What tyres you getting?

      • +1

Hankook Ventus V2 concept2. $120 each, down to $88.75 each with cashback.

        Size: 185/55R16
        Location: WA

  • +3

Following vouchers came with the new tyres today …

LLVIP20TYRE - $20 off inc GST the total of any 4 tyre purchase

    Voucher

… you could always try and leverage - they can only say no - your friend texted them to you :)

    • Daym nice. Thanks for that.

But that code looks like one that you have to enter in online… surely you have to pay for these in-store? Plus the cashback is for in-store purchases only?

      • +1

The code is for them to enter, but you'd need a physical coupon for that offer (I think that's from the service book that you got when you replaced the tyres with them). Unless you can find a nice store who'd accept the "digital" version (I tried 3-4 different Bob Jane in VIC in the past, and that might be a big ask though). Maybe easier to find a friend who bought tyres from them recently to get the physical coupon (or ask someone here who did)

  • +2

Just got a quote from BoB Jane for Bridgestone Ecopia for my micra 185/55R15 82V EP100, total $441 for 4 tyres after the 3 free 1 promo, is it good price? Will different Bob Jane shop quote different price? Also he said will need extra $55 for alignment -thrust, I thought someone mentioned earlier that if changing 4 tyres , alignment will be free? Is it necessary to do alignment?
    Thanks

    • Hmmm, 441$ seems a bit pricey for a R15 tyre on a micra

I have an R16 tyre 205/55/R16 and got the performance Potenza Re003 for $417 for 4.

Best thing to do - to go jax website, look up their price of your tyre, then call up and ask bob jane to beat it

      • +1

I guess all stores aware of the Amex deal, the salesman even mention to me that I can sign up Amex deal, lol
So did u do the same, look up on jax and get them to pricematch? Wonder how yours is cheaper and is it including alignment too?

        • +1

So did u do the same, look up on jax and get them to pricematch?

          Yep, that's what I did.

I'm getting wheel alignment done too for $55, so total price for me is $417+55 = $472.

Maybe call up another Bob Jane nearby and ask them over the phone.

EDIT: Check out this link, find your tyres - you'll see that they're $135 at Jax Tyres.
          https://www.jaxtyres.com.au/tyres/brands/bridgestone/ecopia-…

Call up Bob jane, tell them jax has it for $135 and if they can match it you'll do business with them. So for you it should come to: 3x$135 = $405 before the wheel alignment.

        • @montorola: it says they match price and pay you 10% difference, is that mean give u a gift card for next time use ? Or they will take off the price further from the total ?

        • @bargainhereicome:
Nah they'll just deduct it from the total. But when you call up, ask them to beat jax by a dollar per tyre, works out better than their stupid 10% of the difference thing

  • +6

BWS first click n collect $5 voucher code 5OFFNOW. I don't know if it will work for everyone, but worth a try!!

    • +1

      Code worked! Thx mate.
Just a heads-up: if the code didn't change total shown on right pane, refresh and re-enter the code.

    • Sorry I should add, has to be over $40

    • Added to the post, thank you.

  • How come the bws offer doesn show on my Amex Explorer card? Got it two days ago and activated. The knly offer I see is the Bob Jane T-mart one…

    • Don't know, but not all offers show up for everyone.

There's nothing to worry about though because you can just register it using the manual enrollment link in the OP.

    • When I activated the offer for BWS Amex sent me an email. If u got that, then I wouldn't stress out.

  • +2

just got 4 of the Bridgestone Ecopia 205/55R16 for $133 each.

I only needed the two front replaced, but not bad for $8 to get two additional new tyres.

got the amex email straight away.

wheel alignment is an extra $55.

    • Nice, how's the drive?

  • Anyone got quote for 225/45/18 or 225/40/18 Potenza?
Looking for a set under $500.

    • 225/40/18 $195 each from Bridgestone was the lowest quote I got.

  • Been eyeing off the Potenzas for a while, signed up for the CBA $250 cash back credit card for my tyre purchase, but will use that for something else. Will get the Potenzas 205/50/17 for $600-$125=$475 fitted and aligned. Ozbargain saving me bulk cash lately! cheers everyone!

    • So the alignment is free or extra $55?

      • +2

I got them to price match with a Bridgestone quote I got, I think the tyres came out to be like $190 each and then a $45 alignment. Then he just rounded it down to $600 all up. If that makes sense?

      • Alignment costs will differ depending on FWD RWD AWD vehicles FYI

  • +2

For Bridgestone buyers, Bridgestone themselves quoted me cheaper for a set of Potenzas and I got Bob Jane to price match. Saved an extra $30 or so.
Get a quote for your size here: https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/potenza
They'll email it to you pretty quickly

    • Just got the quote, Bridgestone quote me $52 more expensive each than Bob Jane quote me for ectopia , ridiculous

      • Damn. Only cheaper on specific models then. I got $179 per tyre from BobJane and $168 from Bridgestone. That's for 225/45/R17 Potenza RE003.

Stacked: 4 for 3, Quote match and 10% difference + AMEX cashback to get the set for $379 instead of a potential $716

Happy to send someone the $20 off coupon they gave me if you wanna PM me your deets.

        • Coupon's gone

        • Is that the coupon from the "pay you 10% of the difference" they state in their pricemstch policy? :so they issue you a coupon code for next time use , can't be use straight away to further deducting the 10% difference to total final bill?

        • @bargainhereicome:
Nah the 10% of the difference comes off straight away, but remember that it's only 10% of the difference, not 10% off the cheaper price.

The coupon is one they give you with the receipt etc for $20 off. Someone posted a picture of them earlier in the comments

        • @David Warners Mo: after same tyre for my golf. pm you my email, thanks mate.

      • Try different Bridgestone stores in your area (or not) - as posted in the original Bridgestone thread, I had quotes varying from $195 to $240 for the same tyre from Bridgestone stores within 10kms of each other.

  • How much are people getting the Bridgestone Potenza RE003 in size 225/55/R17 for? The best I have so far is $675 for 4 (with the b3g1f deal).

  • can anyone confirm if you buy a $400 gift card in store you got the amex credit on your account? also does the $400+ spend need to be done in one transaction or multiple? do stores allow you to split the payments with 2 cards?

  • Why Bridgestone?
I just got some Hankook Dynapro HP (215/70 R16) which gets good ratings from productreview, 4 for 3 price. Bob Jane Hornsby price was $139 (excellent price, I think because they are also currently on sale at Jax tyres), inc fit&balance. So I've just this morning put $417 on my amex; -$125, /4, = $73/tyre! This is my 4th set I've bought for my ford escape(done 250000km!) and I've always had to pay >$200/tyre. Good service at Hornsby too…when I went to pay with amex the guy checked that I knew about the cashback and reminded me to register the offer with amex 1st (which of course I had).

  • anyone tried splitting the payment across multiple Amex at Bob Jane?
Looking at the prices of the tyres for my vehicle looks like it will scrape over $800 for 4 + wheel alignment

    • +1

yes splits are ok and they do sell gift cards in store if staff know how to do it.

  • a

  • I was wondering if you could share how you find or get the manual links to the AMEX statement offers? I have some AMEX supplementary cards and offers don't show up in those accounts, and was hoping I can get the manual links myself for the ones I want. Much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Just ordered a case of beer, and 45 minutes later, they told me there was no stock and they could only refund it. Does that mean that I can no longer use my $15 off AMEX?

    • If you've been charged and received the AMEX email / credit you won't be able to use it again, but you've just made $15. Had something similar happen to me a while ago.

      • Don't think this is right.

Numerous other comments about similar incidents indicate that after the purchase gets refunded, the $15 credit will too. You will then be able to use the credit again.

  • Can anyone recommend some tyres for a Toyota Corolla Ascent? is Potenza or Ecopia good for this car? thx

    • if you need 4, see my comment above. Not sure of you size tho

    • I am curious as well since I have the same car and in need of new tyres!Have an appointment with Bob Jane on Sunday. The tyre size is 15

      • +1

I have a similar car (Honda Civic) and put Potenzas on them lol (overkill). But it drives so much better! It's incredible how much grip the tyres have.

Imagine you're turning at the lights, and then the arrow goes amber, so you decide to floor it and go through the lights and around the corner…these tyres will help you there lol.

In other news - got mine done today, got the email notification straight away AND surprisingly, got another $10 email because that bob jane was participating in the shop small offer too!!

Try your luck and get your tyres changed before November end guys, you might save another $10!

  • Got my $15 credit for BWS for my purchase on Wednesday :)

  • 5 Bridgestone Ecopia ep 150 for $651 including wheel alignment.

    • Where'd you get that done?
What was the size of the tyre btw? Did you do a price match/beat?

      • +1

Got it done at Bondi. Size was 185/65R15, they price matched JAX tyres.

  • Can someone recommend me a tyre? My car is a Toyota Aurion SX6.

  • Sigh. Did a click and collect order to my local on Saturday, received an email and sms saying order ready about an hour later. Rocked up today Sunday to collect and the attendant said they didn't have my order and i had to call the BWS helpline. Get it together BWS!

  • BWS $5 off coupon code works well. thank you!
