Best 1080P Monitors under $300 - Help

As the title suggests - Best 1080P Monitors under $300. Help me choose one please and why.

My use: rare gaming (60hz is fine), mainly used with photoshop lightroom (accurate colour reproduction would be nice - but I do it as a hobby, so it's not critical. I find if I get hold of an iPad or a Surface pro or a 'decent' laptop, I never have to 'calibrate' the screen[adjust contrast, brightness etc], happy to use it as is), general internet browsing.

I honestly don't understand the technology anymore. Some monitors claim to be IPS and LED for $150, and in the same brand (eg Samsung) they will have the same size (eg 24") for $300 as well. Basically, I have no idea how to determine the 'quality' of the pixels/light bleeding/etc.

If you have a monitor you use for similar things to me, or just are experienced - please provide some advice on my next purchase.

Thank you in advance.

    • Prefer it at native 1080p.

I've owned that monitor before - I had the 25" version and I did not like it. Vertical height was too small.

I'd recommend waiting for the next dell outlet sale U2415H or U2414H or something like that for $211

  • Hi PZero,

I am using a regular 1080p Samsung right now. Never had a chance to see or try the Dell U2414/U2415 series.

Can you kindly tell us what qualities make it a good choice, eg, sharpness vs normal 1080p monitor, clarity, viewing angles, color rendition, etc.

Any feedback from yourself or members greatly appreciated.

Personally havent used a U2414 but i have a U2713HM so i'm basing my experiences off that.

The Dell Ultrasharp series use an IPS panel (which I prefer) for more accurate colours, they're great for photo editing which I do in my spare time. Not as good as TN for gaming due to higher response time but its not noticable IMO.

Any Dell monitor starting with a U should be in their ultrasharp series (don't quote me on that, need some confirmation) and they have already done the colour configuring for you.

  • "Hey thank you for that" Cheers!!
