Estimate on replacing TV screen panel

Hey guys,

Can anyone give me a rough cost to get someone on site to replace my Samsung TV screen? Audio works but picture is dead doesn't matter what the source is. Plus can't even see the on screen menus so I'm almost certain it's the panel. Thanks in advance.

T.V model is

SAMSUNG UA60H6400AW 60" (152CM) 3D SMART LED TV
- UA60H6400AW

You may be almost certain it's the panel but you should leave that diagnosis to an expert. It could be just a lack of power to the panel. As for the rough cost of someone on site, that really depends on where you are. You haven't told us so we can't help with the question yet. The other way would be to phone the Sammsung service centre and just ask them. Three questions there. How much to turn up and what are the charging intervals and how much per interval.

    • That is true the video cut out while I was watching Foxtel last night.

I live in the Parramatta area, so I would consider that metro. I will give Samsung a call on Monday to get a quote, but I just wanted to get a ball park figure. I paid $1700 in April 2014 from a really good deal and it is still selling for the same price. Once I get some rough figures, I'll start planning ahead, cheers.

Talk to Samsung first. The tv might still be covered by warranty.

I think I can help here as I love TVs.

    1) If you are talking to replace the actual screen panel….you might as well buy a new tv. It might cost more than buying a new one due to labour and the cost of a new panel.

    2) Based on your description your panel is still intact…..(as long as its not damaged or glass crack) It most probably be your a) The Tcon board b) power supply board) c) others

    3) If its a) most expensive board is still affordable to get it fix, b) less expensive and c) Its the search around the tv for the possible cause…..sometimes it could be a $5 fix as power cable has issues but not your case as your tv has no video but there is sound.

Hopefully you can get a good technician to repair it.

    • Thanks for the useful advice.

Yes, the TV is intact, I look after it very well, still has the plastic around the TV :)

Hopefully I get a repair guy that is honest, may just go with Samsung.

    Thank me later lolz

Its your screen model I believe

    "Brand New - never used

    Model: UA60H6400AW

Broken LCD screen as shown in the pic

May be used for parts or may be useful to someone who knows how to fix TVs. Glass and other parts are in perfect condition.

COD. Pick up in Plumpton (near Caroline Springs)."but its in victoria….

Hes got a broken screen but working intacts.

    1) you need to bargain and buy it from him/her
    2) you need a qualified technician to salvage the parts and send to nsw then transfer the parts over to your tv.
    3) don't risk doing it yourself…..its not worth it. (zap zap)

    • lol, wow, good find. I will follow up with Samsung on Monday, otherwise this sounds like a good and reasonable fix.

If the warranty expired, you can look inside the TV if there are any blown capacitors with google's help.
I'm not an expert, it's just that Samsung and LG used to be known for their cheap capacitors…

    • Flux capacitors.

Very true. Replaced T-con board on my Sammy recently. Its a known issue with a certain IC on the board. The IC cost is 10c but no one would replace it so had to change the board. I got quoted $60 call out(diagnosis), $250 part + $90 labor(1hr). $400 for a 5 year old 40" LCD is crazy but it had less than 500hrs of use.

    • Wish I bought a LG or Samsung, my Panasonic don't die :(
wish it dies so I can buy a OLED

Samsung has been replacing TVs lately when outside warranty (read it a few times). See what Samsung say first. After all, it's only been just over 2 years. For a 60" TV I'd guess it was over $1500 purchase back then, you'd want it to last 3 years minimum!

  • Forgot to update this.

Even though my TV was out of warranty, Samsung came to my house and replaced the actual panel/screen FREE! The panel looked new but I assume a refurb, I got an extra 6 months Warranty too. First time Samsung has done right by me, so I will continue using their televisions at least, for now.

  • Hi,

My 75 inch screen was replaced recently by Samsung which was 2 years old.

    Thanks Samsung.

  • I just called Samsung for a qled tv which is out of Warranty…They only gave a 20 percent voucher for a new tv…nothing else…:(….I dont know how you get screen replaced for free :)))
