its grey stock but they have local service. So if there is any problem you don't need to ship it internationally
say the v20 experiences bootloop issues like the lg g4, and this occurs after 12 months of purchase. Am i covered by ACCC warranty for major defects?
I have a faulty dualsim s7 sent back to them, it's been 1.5 months.
cos grey stock, they sent it back to samsung overseas. I've been told it's another 2x weeks… if they are to be believed.
I wouldn't trust them. Look at negative comments about them lying in other deals posted in ozb.

There's a feature that means that won't matter. You can get to it between the boot loops ;-)
(Bitten by 3 LG G4 phones dieing. Not a boot loop but rather BT and WLAN hardware stop working. LG can't solder or use bad quality. The mess that created for me took months to sort. Never LG again…which is sad because feature wise I'd love the V20)
Good specs indeed, but poor execution.
my lg g4 boot loop issue got fixed during the 12 months warranty, however upon return it now overheats when using GPS/google maps. so much so that it stops charging & shuts down.. baah!

My favorite phone by far, a definite contender for top 3 phones of the year.
I'd personally rate it as top 2 between this and the S7, but the masses would probably chuck in that ridiculously overpriced Pixel with their crappy hardware and design as top 3.
In this age, it's all about software going forward. And when the hardware and software work so well together, and you are guaranteed the latest and greatest SOFTWARE (AI etc) with the Pixel, I wouldn't even think of going with V20 or S7, unless I didn't have much money or something.
Hardware is the same in most phones, and most would put a case on a phone anyway. So hardware design is overrated.
You're funny, software is something that can be updated and improved upon sooner or later, but hardware is something you're stuck on from day 1 that can't be changed.
The pixel is magically gonna grow out an amazing headphone jack, have the latest best aptx hd Bluetooth codec and have wireless charging grow out from thin air.

Zzzz grow up man. Every phone has it's flaws, and the V20 has poor battery life, gimmicky second screen, inferior build to sealed phones, much taller than phones of equal display size, potential for boot loops, questionable update schedule, SD820 not SD821 so no daydream VR.
Anyway, most phones these days are the same quality when it comes to hardware, they are all fast and have good cameras etc, the thing that separates them is software, this is apparent when looking at the pixel, comparing how smooth it feels against the V20, S7E etc is a testament to this. The pixel is the best google phone as an experience goes, and it will get all the AI goodies coming out over the next few years, while the V20 will not (but I bet users will try and use rom ports or app ports from the pixel!).
Anyway there is nothing wrong with the V20, but calling the Pixel crappy hardware would put the V20 is the same boat.

For $1400, a 1 second faster loadscreen is something I'm not okay with.

I hope you enjoy your v20 as it is a great phone. I had s7e and I can say unequivocally that the pixel is a better phone in every aspect. Note 7 was better but can't buy it anymore. V20 is a great phone,as I said every phone out right now is great,even phones like op3 or axon 7. Software is where it's at. Point proven about manual camera controls, as that is software lol. Glare will be fixed through software.
Anyway if you knew anything about technology then you would understand. Hardware is hitting a ceiling and the gains we are getting is smaller and smaller. Software can offload processing and offer greater features than a few extra mics.
Don't forget that there will be pixel only software.

If it doesn't have the hardware, how would they implement it? A coder can add "pixel only software" to other phones but no matter how hard they try, they are limited to hardware.

@Zeral: are you special? Manual camera controls are software lol, try open camera app. Pixel Congress with more storage than v20 plus unlimited cloud storage. I love how you say limited hardware when spec wise the pixel is better than v20. I love all my phones, some more than others. Buyers remorse will be when there are no more official updates to the phone, v20 will be much slower than pixel, and much less frequent. Samsung and lg have been done of my least favorite phones. Lg g2 is one of my all time favorites, but like all Samsung's and lgs, was held back by poor software. Perhaps you are the one trying to get a phone that's cheaper than the pixel and Trying to justify your purchase with a child's view of technology?

@Zeral: In those tests the pixel is faster to load All apps initially. Then when it comes to reloading the 15th game that you had open, it for some reason closed it, while the v20 didn't. Anyway that's software. So really the take from this is that the hardware if the v20 can't kepp up with an under-clocked sd821. It's funny because even the video you sent shows the v20 is slower to open apps.

AI isn't really AI, it's basically the same shit found in the Google duo app, so it isn't really a pixel exclusive.
Everyone's getting fooled by their PR bullshit that "light and slim version of Android is better" and that "bloatware is bad", but what Google really cares for is maximizing profit without spending too much(like every other corporate).
A good example is the aptx HD Bluetooth codec, it's been out for a year and available to every SD820, but other companies don't want to pay a commission to Qualcomm for using it(same with Apple charging every company for using the lightning port).
Basically they're cheating out on hardware and trying to justify it with software. You can buy a $500 xiaomi, slap on a pixel case and camera, and there is your $1400 pixel.

This is a good phone in terms of reviews but keep in mind LG is notorious for terrible software updates and barely even have regular updates for their phones.
I highly recommend Blackberry DTEK60 which just came out 2 weeks ago, much better option
