As it says, I just chew threw them. I fall asleep with them in, or they get caught on something when I tug at them, or the solder joints come apart, or the 3.5m plug goes wonky. So, accepting that they don't last long, I don't want to pay Bose prices, so I'm after reasonable quality cheap buds. Any suggestions?

In ear please.
hard plastic? or the rubbery squishy ones?
Squishy silicone.
I was going to suggest VE Monk Plus which costs like $10 dollars. That said, those are open style ones and they are fragile. Though at that price, they were alright by my standard.
Xiaomi ones I thought were fairly sturdy, that said, I never liked how they sounded so I didn't really use them for a long time.
One thing you technically could do is go for the earphone that has detachable cables (which would definitely go out of your budget). While expensive, they would allow you to replace the cable, and cable is usually the part that breaks the most?
Panasonic RP-HJE120, about $10-15 each, oval tipped and have been very durable for me so far.
Pana is the best I've seen/heard so far too.
I just picked up a set of these after destroying the jack end on the last couple of cheap sets. If you check the amazon images, they even advertise them as being able to pull 10lbs of weight on the cords
