I'm blatantly stealing this from reddit but I'd love to know what free PC games OzBargainers are playing/have played.

A few of the suggestions given on reddit were multiplayer/MMORPGs, so if any free game already has an OzBargain community that'd be awesome.

EDIT Thought I'd put together a list of recommendations, excluding the emulators and low cost content.

      It was - look two comments above ;) HotS is a great, accessible MOBA. The lack of items makes it much easier to pick up IMO.

      Although to have any chance of doing any good in ladders, you definitely need to pay to make up your own decent decks - or grind away for hours and hours which would get pretty boring pretty quick.

        Agreed hearthstone becomes pay to win pretty quickly as you rank up. It's a pity really.

          more pay to have fun

          You could make a tier 2~ deck f2p play with a bit of effort, and if you been playing a long time its easy to be f2p

          But it is really pretty bad for new player

    Path of Exile - It's what Diablo 3 should have always been. Also, it's not pay to win, just pay to theme your character

      The best thing that happened to Diablo 3 was removing the auction house , it was a disgrace and made the game terrible to play , so i gave up playing and only just returned to it " 4 weeks ago " its great fun now and its how it should have been in the first place.

    Only play one game - Unreal Tournament (UT4). Can play for 10 minutes or 3 hours, very little learning curve. Not recommended for anyone who can't take a beating because noobs will be slaughtered.

          The QC issues of Acer/Asus for the AU Optronics scares the sh#t out of me at $1479AU

          I can afford it but I'm not prepared to deal with the QC issues that have plagued these new monitors

    Command and Conquer series.

    I was actually world champion 4 times of the game 'Command and Conquer, Red Alert 2' which had a massive following in its prime during the 2000's.

    Won a PC, cash, and even got to play in Korea and put up in hotel, flights etc…

    Enjoying Heroes of the Storm heaps here… I have one account I buy heavily discounted character bundles on and on my alt, it's all freebie give aways and the odd gold purchase for characters I wanna try out.

    The current Nexus Challenge has been great to top up my roster!

    Mech Warrior Online (MWO) - https://mwomercs.com/ . Reasons:

    a. It's a tank simulator except Mechs are cooler.
    b. Practically everything is accessible for free.
    c. Despite there being paid-for currency aka MC, every second week/month there is an easy challenge to win MC.
    d. Team work pays off even with random strangers.
    e. First person shooter, sure. However you can shoot limbs (components) off. Conversely you use your limbs to protect your torso.
    f. Your pre-battle building makes a real difference to your in-game strategy.

    The only thing you cannot get without grinding is some single player adventures. PvP is completely free.

    Dota 2 and hearthstone. Dota 2 since it's days as a Warcraft custom game and Hearthstone since before Naxxramas adventure cane out.

    Warframe is my go-to freebie these days. The best example of F2P that I've ever come across.

    Another (albeit: much shorter) game I recommend is "Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist".

      Loved scorched Earth … That was the game with the little tank things, right? Probably last played that 25 years ago! I don't know what it was about the game, but it was very addictive.

        Yes exactly, a physics turret game which was sort of the precursor to Worms and Angry Birds. I don't think it was the first, but it had a large array of weapons and was shareware. I think the key for us was it was the first game that 4 players could play all at once, there were nights where we were up to 3am playing it, crazy stuff and very addictive.

    Forza Motorsport 6 Apex costs nothing. You can buy DRM stuff like the Nurburgring and other cars, but for what it costs (nothing up front) and what it plays like (a beautiful dream) it's amazing.

    Roller coaster tycoon was my first ever PC game and probably my favorite to date. Brings back all that nostalgia feels.
