Crumpler Click Frenzy, Up to 50% off Some Styles/Colours

90

Crumpler is participating in CLick frenzy too! Bags are up to 50% off, downside is only certain colours and styles are discounted.

In particular their popular Barney Russel Blanket https://www.crumpler.com/au/barney-rustle-blanket-sale/ is a great deal. Especially the Blue(Green?)/Gold colour; while it lists the original price as $165 to $110 ~33% off, that colour is actually a special edition that was a week or two ago listed as being $185 to $110 so that's ~40% off. I also would have liked the Black/Blue combo, more understated and stealthy, and they both seem to not be on offer on the main non-sale section of the site. Overall Defs better than their 30% off sale from two weeks ago!

There's free standard shipping if your order is over $50

Edit: Someone at Crumpler must have noticed the special edition was grouped with the normal colour! The Blue/Green & Gold colour is still the same great sale price here: https://www.crumpler.com/au/barney-rustle-blanket-sale-aus/

This is part of Click Frenzy deals for 2016

I don't get Crumpler. They seem to be well made bags, but even 50% off they are 2 or 3 times the cost of an equal quality competitor.
Maybe if you want one of the outlandish colour options? Is it all just the label?

I bought it for the longevity of the bag. It has a lifetime warranty.
By the looks of things, I'm going to pass it onto my kids so they can put their Hoverboard in it.

    • Lifetime warranty is its major selling point. But do you really need it? Have the same bag for all your life and then "pass it to my kids"? This idea itself is already ridiculously amusing.

If the bag goes faulty they will rectify it for you. I had the zip replaced on my bum bag, no problems at all. (I probably broke it trying to zip it up when I'd shoved too many things into it.) Also the bags themselves are great quality. Horses for courses but I have a number of their bags and am very happy with them. The Barney Rustle is good value at that price. Also, there are Crumpler outlets around that are worth visiting, they usually have a pretty good range at discounted prices.

I've got an old crumpler backpack and to be honest, at least as far as backpacks are concerned, I haven't encountered many bags of equal quality. I like my Osprey bag.. but its not nearly as sturdy.

My crumpler is made of something that looks like cordura nylon on the outside (apparently its 1000d, not sure if its Cordura branded or not). It has ripstop Nylon lining. Fat, chunky YKK zips. Closed cell foam padding which hasn't squished down that much in the last 15 years.

My model is no longer produced but I liked many of the design features, including:

      • the outside pocket was pretty hard to get into, and the main compartment zip is behind the shoulder straps. So its virtually impossible for someone to slip their hand intot hte bag without me noticing
      • The padded ripstop laptop sleeve can be detached from the inside of the main compartment and carried separately. Freeing the main bag for other uses.

Having said all that, I bought my bag back when it was still run by Stuart Crumpler. From what I've heard since he left and wages rose in China, the quality has dropped (see: https://www.reddit.com/r/photography/comments/2vai98/thinkin…)

As others say, good design, materials, and warranty. They last.

But yeah I agree that full price is very dear.

Half price though, that's an (oz)bargain.

I'm a Crumpler fan from way back. Their customer service is excellent, and as others have said, the lifetime warranty is great. I've had a few things repaired (mainly from where zips have parted way with the fabric) and all repairs have been done well and pretty quickly. The last repair I took in they said they don't even want proof of purchase any longer, they'll just repair it.

I travel a lot, and these bags last. They are just super versatile and hardwearing. Sure, you pay more, but you get what you pay for. I stocked up on stuff this time as well (sometimes they slip through the Myer/DJ's sales too though).
