I have just purchased a surface pro 4 to be used during my commute to study. I will mostly rely on pre downloaded videos and use wifi when available, but I was thinking of buying a 4G dongle for back up. The data packs you can buy from Vodafone, optus etc. seem to be quite overpriced.
Any cheaper options?
Optus Prepaid has double data offer on atm if you're only using it ad hoc, the expiry can be up to 2 years.
But if you're a regular heavy user you might wanna piggyback off your phone plan like chenrenchun mentioned.

Piggyback off phone; 2 gbyte per $1 work well on vodafone's pay as you use that's < 26 gb for each $14 Sim bought @eBay
