  • Is there any information on whether the domains are allowed for commercial use?

So how do you stop them from billing you $81.00 per half year…?

    • +1

      bank deposit payment

    • I opts to pay via paypal, and it never asked for my details as off yet, I think it'll jump promt me come mid year

    • Most likely you don't give them any payment information and you cancel before renewal should be relatively easy to cancel the service is from with in their billing portal when the time calms.

Check the terms and conditions and other legal documentation to see what the cancellation terms are of the contract.

There's also https://nc.me/ which is a similar deal that's been around for years. Not as offer-packed as once it was but alright if your place of study qualifies.

  • Was too late in posting it lol. Good deal.

I wonder if trump.com is taken, I bet he'd give me a million dollars for that.

    Username check out….

Careful, I signed up and got the free domain and hosting. My uni email gets at least one email a day from people trying to sell me web design or SEO optimisation etc. Idk if it is the fault of the host or they just get the details from whois. Come to think of it I have other domains without private details and don't get as much spam on the associated email address.

    Still a nice deal

Same! Started getting Indian web design spam since signing up…

Well now I'm getting phone calls too.

Unfortunately this is just what happens if you register a new domain name with no privacy these days doesn't matter on the provider chosen.

      • -1

You're right, or they sold our details to fund this promotion. I did not read the T&C's like I hardly do.

Sold my details and I've got so much spam to my email and my mobile..

    • -1

As I mentioned they most likely did not sell your details by not having WHOIS Protection on a new domain name you're guaranteed to have problems.

As your information is publicly available in the WHOIS System and unfortunately there's companies that specialise in scanning this database for new registrations and selling it to the sort of people that are contacting you.
