    isnt shopmate like….2 yrs old?

Good to see a discount though, brings it down from its super exorbitant prices to almost okay prices

  • Anyone who uses these types of services, how do they compare for price/features?

    • sorry for the late reply, i use them they are ok if you dont get split orders. Amazon does this often(very) then it can get very expensive quickly. plus if you have an item that is 400grams, they will charge you like its 505 grams = 9.90
i ordered an amazon echo dot, weighs 500 grams - they charge like it was 1kg.

    Old and overpriced.

See the salty deal I posted earlier this year. Also, like Blorgglorg said, ShopMate is hardly a new thing…

New service? Shopmate is old, expensive and run by Singapore post because Australia Post are inept and run by a Luddite.

  • has anyone actually used this service? would be nice to get some feedback/review about it.

  • Can anyone recommend a service better/cheaper?

I've used Shipito most frequently. Never had any issues. Whoever you use, it's worth asking the place you're purchasing from to package as small/light as possible, since forwarding is based on weight and volume. And places like Amazon as an example, often send say a shoebox size item, in a box the size of a small child. This is where a lot of people get stung.

I would also suggest signing up to Hop Shop Go - I often get discount codes via email which knocks $20usd or so off their extravagant forwarding fees (which are about on par with Aus post Shopmate fees), and makes it quite an economical option.

Aus post do a poor job in Australia…. Why would anyone want to use their overseas services when there are others available?

  • does this work for BestBuy?

  • ShopMate came in cheaper than Shipito according to Choice.

I get that the $1 handling fee is cheaper but you still need to pay for a postage service.

    • Just used Shopmate for a package of snow gear from Backcountry.

It was initially 4.2kg and they repacked it down to 2.1kg. Amount came to $52 and with the code from this deal I paid $45.

The only thing I am suss about is there has to be at least a 2kg weight saving for them to justify a repack ($5 repack fee). Yes, they "saved" me ~$20 on the shedded weight but it seems a bit too convenient that it was 4.2kg to start with. I had already emailed Backcountry and told them I was using a forwarding service and for them to strip all excess packaging. Backcountry acknowledged and said they would do their best in their warehouse. I am not sure how Shopmate found an additional 2.1kg to shed.

Regardless, $45 is reasonable. I used the calculator on Shipit.to and they came it at $2 fee, $45 shipping, $13 tax (they do not offer tax-free locations unless you sign up to the subscription service).
