Just putting this out there so other people don't get caught. I opened a Citibank account recently for use when travelling, but decided to move my savings as well for at least the period of the introductory rate to a linked savings account (which was offered on signup to the transaction account). Little did I know, this 'linked' savings account is not the same as the 'online' savings account, and has an awful interest rate of 0.25% p.a. This is in contrast to the 3.00% initial rate of the 'online' savings account (was a bit higher when I initially signed up). It has only been about 1.5 months but I'm still annoyed about the lost interest earnings.
How can they even call it a savings account if it is only 0.25% p.a.?
Good to know. Thanks for the info. I have the savings account. Haven't used it as yet but was considering because the advertised one has a standard rate (after promo ends) higher than most others.
