I am looking to buy this TV from JB HiFi during the current sale. Hi Sense 55" Smart TV Full HD for $798.
I am not a tech savvy person and haven't bought a TV for a while now. Is it a good price?
My use will be normal free to air, watching some downloaded content and maybe some Youtube.
Any help from experts in this category will be much appreciated.
You should consider the Bauhn 65" Ultra HD LED for $799 at Aldi.. although you might have to wait for them to sell it again.
my opinion on smart TVs is: don't buy them.
they are nice, but what happens when the manufacturer decides to stop providing updates or technology changes/improves and you're left with old boggy tech/software? very difficult to future proof smart TVs
my experience with Soniq has been very positive (my soniq 24" is 2 years old is going fine).
go for a "dumb" TV and then get an android box. you can buy a decent android box (to suit your needs, from China delivered for easily $40)
as 18 suggests - the Bauhn 65" TV is far superior for the specs and basically the same price. you just need to spend a little more to get a decent android box. but the TV will outlast the box and then you just pay small amount to upgrade to a new box when required - rather than having to buy a whole new tv.
the soniq , from what you say your demands are, would be perfectly suitable. and if the smart part of it does go out of date then you could just buy an updated android box and plug that in.
i got it 2 weeks ago, great TV for the price.
