Smart Kettle (Timer Controlled/App Controlled)

Hi Guys,

So I am looking at getting the GF a kettle for Christmas. Yes despite what you might think I believe she will love it as she is a HUGE tea fan, she can't go a day without at least one. I was hoping to get one with a 'remote on' feature so whether that be a timer or app controlled or anything else I don't mind. The only one I have found so far is the iKettle.

Does anyone else know of another kettle that has this remote on feature?

The wifi light bulbs get lonely…

    • Because she is like a tea addict and I quote, "The hardest part of my day is getting up in the cold to put the kettle on!"

  • make sure your kettle has virus protection

and allow enough time to be able to setup the kettle

    • lol haha I saw that, apparently they were releasing a security patch this month

  • Personally I would look at the T2 teamaker

You use tealeaves, rather than teabags, it can steep for as long as she wants it to, and there is no awkward pouring from the pot, you sit if on the glass and it drops out the bottom. (The imagery isn't great, particularly tea colour, but it works really well). There are kits you can get for this with teamaker, insulated glass and a couple of teas. I have a couple of these because I got one of these sets for about $20 when they were clearing out the old packaged version. I usually have it next to me and keep topping it up during the day until I think the leaves have run out of puff.

Found this on Gear best. Only works with bluetooth, so won't be able to control if you are out of BT range.

Hey thanks for the reply, however I believe the Xiaomi kettle only controls water temperature from the app. I do not think you can actually turn it on wirelessly, which is the only feature I think she would use haha.

  • Have a look at this one.. http://www.mi.com/kettle/

    • Again above comment, however much I do love the Xiaomi products I do not think you can turn it on wirelessly

The breville one is overpriced garbage, the lid breaks easily, which causes problems.

      look at the negative reviews.

      • Wow, 28 reviews with 12 five star, I am extremely concerned! No issues with mine, works perfect and only paid $198 delivered in 2013. Great working machine with Breville quality.

    • Hey thanks for the info, although it does have a timer to start the kettle for the morning I think paying $300 for just that feature might be overdoing it a tad.

      • Your on oz bargain and pay retail? no understand it's expensive but works great.

  • So do you have to remember to fill a smart kettle the night before? If so detracts from the convenience.

Maybe you just need an instant system or a continuous system and to hell with the power cost.
