Good Cricket Football club for 9 year old in around Parramatta

I have a 9 year old son very keen to learn soccer and Cricket. We have tried a few academies here in Parramatta like Grasshopper footworks and milo but none that we have found upto the mark. School teacher says he has good potential but unable to find the right academy for him. Pls help if you are aware of any good academies.
Thanks for reading.

  • At that age, I would suggest just practice, doing throw downs in the nets and basics skills with a soccer ball in the park. Focus on keeping it fun and not so much about perfecting techniques. If they develop a passion for the games young enough, you are more than half way there.

Junior clubs aren't promoting fierce competition between 9 year olds anyway. They will be doing the same thing as you just suggested, and the kid will probably get to make a few new friends on the way and have fun with the sports

  • Thanks both ..Just that I have never been much of a sports person neither played or watch much so I feel very handicapped to practice with him or teach him anything at all.

Don't worry maybe it can be a learning experience for the two of you

Great father and son bonding thing hmm maybe

Its fantastic that you want to get involved and I can understand where you are coming from.

I grew up playing NRL and Cricket yet my sons are crazy about soccer, I tried my best to steer them away from it, I really did.
I never played a competitive game before, just the odd kick around at school.

But every opportunity we had, we would be in the back yard, down the park, joining social games and at that age, they just loved having fun.

I signed them both up to a local team and engaged a lot of the coaches and parents, they invited us to their training sessions.

I even started to enjoy it myself and in my 30s I started playing in a senior competition.

Get involved, keep it fun, make new friends. If they have real talent and potential the academies will present themselves in due time if they make rep teams.

      • Thanks for your understanding..yes I do want to get involved..but I have physical issues too like recurrent arm dislocation issues im the shoulders and embarrassed to say I don't even have basic knowledge of sports like I didn't even know over the wicket from around the wicket bowling.
