I have tried using 3 cards to split the payments and got cash back on all of them. But mind you, two other cards were from my friends.
Also, it was in store purchase.

Nope, I've split purchases, and also bought gift cards on many occasions.
They won't know what you have spent.
And it can only be done instore at the cashiers desk.
