Apple Pay is coming to more banks (mostly credit unions) in Australia - thanks to Cuscal.
What are your thoughts on this?
I am hopeful that it will soon come to the banks like Commonwealth :)

Thanks for sharing the link of a 3 months old article (You are Genius), in case you don't know there is more happened since that article was published.
ACCC has already denied banks about the collective bargain in their interim report. However, their final report is due this month.
So, I am still hopeful. (After all, Hope is bigger than the Pope)
I am aware that the ACCC has said no, at least temporarily. I linked that article in case you weren't aware of the original situation.
But even if the ACCC eventually gives the green light to let the banks collectively bargain with Apple, it's not going to make a big difference. This is going to drag on for months, regardless of the ACCC's decision.
Feel free to hope, but don't hold your breath.
I won't hold my breath and thanks for the neg ;)
my amex has gained 50K points since being on apple pay, while my platinum awards has got none.
CBA is dumb
It is a free market. If you believe that Apple Pay is important to you, then you need to vote with your money and switch to ANZ or whatever smaller bank that is going to support Apple Pay soon. That's the only way to tell CBA that they are doing it wrong. Otherwise, if they can keep their customers without Apple Pay fees being paid to Apple - why would they bother?
so will Apple be paying tax in Australia?
Apple Pay went live today with Cuscal.
Here's the full list. Good to see Dwayne Johnson getting in on the action as well:

If you've been living under a rock, you might not be aware that CBA, NAB and Westpac are in a very public fight over Apple Pay and are seeking to collectively bargain with Apple to remove or reduce Apple's fees for using the service. They're also appealing to the ACCC to try to force Apple to allow other apps (more specifically, the bank's own apps) to access the NFC chip used in mobile payments so Apple doesn't have a monopoly on mobile payments using iOS. Apple have been fighting back, and it's getting messy.

TLDR: Apple Pay won't be coming to Commonwealth any time soon.
